Borderworlds ships are good. LH have 100% on all Borderworlds ships.
The Gold Standard of PvP is usually placed on the Sabre.
You could give the Falchion a try as well, heard their small hitbox is good.
Slightly more advanced stuff is if you can handle more agile ships with paper armor, like the Bayonet.
Anyways, the usual suggestion would be a Sabre, and there's a reason why so many people endorse is.

Sabre sucks now. it got nerfed too harshly.

No idea about Sabres, personally never flew them except once on my Outcast in 4.86, didn't like it.

Eagle with LH guns on LH ID is a 90% overall core regen.
LH ID has 90% on Eagles. Should be fine though, 90% isn't too noticable.

why is it 90%? I thought LH has Civ tech on 90%?

Lane Hackers have 90% on Sirius Civilian, 100% on Borderworlds.
The only ID that has 100% on both is Das Wilde.
As for your ship choice, I do not recommend a Sabre at all, not only has its core and strafing been nerfed, but it also got a new BW competitor that just outclasses it: the Falchion.
The Eagle is probably not an ideal choice for beginners. I'd start with a Falchion.
As for making money, a very simple way to make credits fast is to mine scrap on a Junker or ALG ID'd ship.
You can sit right outside the Junker bases in Texas or Burgundy, fill your hold, and sell it right there for an excellent price.
It's currently one of the fastest ways to make money, and certainly the fastest way to make money alone.
But you'll still better off with a partner of course. I suggest looking into joining a trading or mining faction if you want to make some serious cash.
If you just want enough to support one or two snubs, that's not really necessary.

**Buddy** gave me a Sabre to start out on and I changed it into a Falchion and put some other guns on it. I can pass it on to you. I PM'ed you the transfer code if you want the ship.
