I give up ... lets just have a free for all. To heck with rules ... to heck with role play because it really doesn't exist. Easy dude your comeing unglued. We seem to agree something must be done but not on what. by defineing our collective stance by ironing or recognizeing our differences we will get our collective stance. From there we better figure whats going to work best. Right now if we gave you the magic wand, we would get a knee jerk reaction which would not benefit everyone. Maybe pirates need a buff to match lawful might. I have been advocateing that pirates should have more freedoms as Lawfuls have more now. I really dont like the idea of nerfing anyone but buffing the pirates I'm all about. What if Lawfuls could only enforce the law in gunboats and below and had to reaserve thier criusers and up as purely war machines? After all pirates can only break the law in gunboats and below so is it not fair play. I mean the rational that pirates dont pirate in criusers cause its too expensive is as silly/valid as saying law enforcement is too exspensive to be done with criusers and up. After all wouldnt the tax payers be more up tight than a single pirate captain whose god of his ship as opposed to a lawful who must answer to congress the senate and the tax payer? There are no BHG NPCs in Sigma 13 so doesn't that mean there should only be limited player presence unless specifically contracted to be there? Bounty Hunters Gone Wild - ProwlerPC - 08-04-2008 hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. again......... I see a talk about BHG capwhores, I spoke with my fellow agents: we all work in house sytems with VHF's and bombers, I have been on for 2 months with only seing one incident of BHG cap ships in the House systems, I believe only one other member has seen a BHG cap ship once in the house sytems. These "cap whores" seem to be outside of the system or they were something from the past that stil hasn't been let go. If you see a BHG Cap ship out in the edge systems; run don't whine, BHG cap ships should be out there not in here, if you are out there - take it like a champ, it is where they belong. If it is an issue you have with BHG because of somthing that happened two month ago....take it somwhere else. Bounty Hunters Gone Wild - chovynz - 08-04-2008 ' Wrote:You are NOT helping here. Bounty Hunters Gone Wild - Culebra - 08-04-2008 ' Wrote:But bounty hunters would be the equivalent of a mixed marriage in the South in the fifties--not a great match and not much incentive to pursue it. Because of all the Xenos I have captured I have a good rep with the BH. I give them xeno prisoners they give me money. I don't trust them and they probably don't trust me but we get along for now. However I would not recommend that BHs land on a Junker base. There are too many criminals there for them to live long. ' Wrote:Now, as I generally leave legal traffic alone (unless someone wanders too far from where he ought to be) and routinely shake down other illegals and shady characters for profit and/or deterrence, what side of the law would most consider my 'Junker Policy Enforcement Agent' character to be on?That sounds really fun whats your pirate ship of choice? ' Wrote:Now ... I suppose its time for me to start trading like a mad fool until I can buy my OWN battleship ... maybe an Osiris. Then we'll be working toward a capship server. Can't pirate in anything larger than a gunboat ... but you can sure hunt pirates in anything you want.I think it's pretty silly for the navy to use a battleship to stop smugglers. That is a serious waste of manpower. Large navy ships should be used for defense not chasing down smugglers. Both the lawfuls and the BHs should realy use smaller ships to stop smugglers and pirates especially since both groups frequent areas with asteroids. I have also seen many a BH ships camped right outside of a Junker base. I think this is oorp because they should realy fear the pirates that hang out there. I think bases in general need stronger weapons to discourage anyone camping them. I mean its a base its supposed to be well defended. I will say the worst experiences I have had have been from non faction bounty hunters. They act as galaxy wide police and only fly cap ships. I think the new BH ID will help limit the capship spam of the bounty hunters. They should realy be chasing pirates in gunboats and smaller and leaving their big ships to fight the order. Bounty Hunters Gone Wild - Rudo - 08-04-2008 ' Wrote:That sounds really fun whats your pirate ship of choice? The IMG Gunboat. Figure if I'm going to be walking the line between legal and illegal, I can't use a pirate-faction ship. Especially considering I'd have to shake down pirates belonging to the faction that sold me the ship otherwise. Wouldn't look right, ya know? And yeah, we Junkers are supposed to be cut-throat opportunists that only look out for our own. I understand it's easier to roleplay the neutral 'everybody's not-quite-friend' in the otherwise polarized atmosphere of Houses like Liberty, and get diplomatic immunity smuggling rights out if it. But the darkest of the Junkers are true jackals at heart. They only cooperate with even their closest neighboring factions so long as there's profit involved. The Caveat Emptor will play based on this archetype. Basically, I'm going for Neutral Evil. The other entries so far.... Dusty_Lens Wrote:the trader revenge faction of choice Raekur Wrote:we are heartless brainless lazy cowards who will only prey on the weak and defenseless Feel free to add more. On some of the points raised. Inexperienced players (criteria: experience of RP and interaction, not time in game) often believe that the tag showing on another ship determines their expected RP behaviour (which is still a question of who to shoot in many peoples' minds - including many experienced pirates who shoot up BHG because "You're our enemy"). Hence we have ridiculous things like traders attacking BH id ship because of red guard tag. Also anyone who makes a habit of killing a particular type of criminal will discover that the other half of the Sirius pirate divide is suddenly your biggest fan. Kill corsairs until the cows come home and outcast rep goes green. Hence they don't think things like "Docking rights for BHers? BH docking should be restricted to lawful bases, not at a Junker base." Combining all these and you have some idea of how simply the game is seen through some peoples' eyes. They need to be educated first. If they don't want to learn, they will have to go elsewhere. The question is how to educate them. Do you ignore them when they do things like Quote:showing up in battle cruisers in Sigma 13 and just hanging out at YanagiWell I was going to say if people want to hang out in the biggest PvP/OORP hang-out joints in the game, let 'em but any pirates I've encountered there RP well. Not so the many badly played BHer caphwores there. I can see why the ID generates such negative feedback. How about an Admin going to these hotspots? Reckon they have enough to deal with as it is. I find it is a mistake to even use it as a shortcut. How best to educate them is the real problem here. Taking bounties from unlawfuls? It depends on what you define as an unlawful action. Which matters most? Who the target is or who's paying? I think one ship rather than the whole line needs fixing. Fix the BC (reduce stats or raise price) and this problem may very well go away. It is well cheap and too attractive (on paper) an option for someone to use to abuse the ID to PvP with good odds at winning. People choosing it as well may not be aware of how vulnerable the ship is to bombers perhaps through a lack of interaction with other players. Thankfully threads like this pop up so any person who has been guilty of dragging the rep down stands a better chance of seeing how despised particular misdeeds among BHers are and maybe learning. Quote:They should realy be chasing pirates in gunboats and smaller and leaving their big ships to fight the order./signed Please note that even to operate in Houses at present a gunboat is rarely able to become involved because of bounty restrictions. Bounty Hunters threaten the livelihoods of others by doing unpaid work and risk having their licenses revoked. This is not a charitable institution and you scabs are costing real Hunters money. Bounty Hunters Gone Wild - El Nino - 08-04-2008 I cannot help to observe how all this recent decline in Sigma 13 RP quality is becouse of me, placing my pirate on top of the NB jumphole, and making the dangerous route dangerous.... I've spoted a predictable patern: Pirate a power trader, out comes the reengaging powerwhore. As the ship commander often speaks russian and very little to no english, no words but an engagement is eminent.... Then most of the times I destroy the fiend with my gunboat... and pop the route goes down... Then come outcasts hunting me in oorp fashion, then come the bountyhunters, then the traders start thretening with their cruisers, then they buy battleships, and switch to BH Gunships... Now I wouldn't be pirating in sigma 13, if I didn't make damn good money... Anyhow, If only one could be bothered to write all those reengagement reports, and find out who's who... Bounty Hunters Gone Wild - worldstrider - 08-04-2008 The primary problem is non-english speaking pirates and BHs there who don't understand rp. Then you throw in the opportunists who come there for a quick buck. Their tactics are only, "2mil or die!" followed by immediate gunfire which doesn't stop until you explode. It's a coin toss if they are attacking you for a reason that's even remotely plausible or if they will actually give you time to pay. The actual pirates there who "work it" as rp are fine. The Bounty hunters seem to show up in 2's or 4's--all battle cruiser or higher. Usually they don't mess with you (Junker) but then randomly they might. It's the random part that's annoying (insert: "I'm bored--kill you?"). |
