my good sir you obviously do not know what it is like to live in little old newzealand. where the ping is a steady 400 and It can be considered a miracle to even manage to dock with something.
LOL do you really think that someone who has to COMPLETELY ignore the targetting reticule in order to pull off a decent pass on an npc, has any advantage in pvp?
If you dont like laggers why dont you just go lan with all the other players in your area that dislike laggers as much as you do (it will be a very lonely lan server)

Okay, i fought tons and tons of laggy people on discovery.... And in all my time here I saw only once someone PMed me in game and said, sorry mate it would not be fair to you fighting me with this amount of lag i have... And I was like : WOOOW .... what a honest guy, so he retreated and i continued to play game like i have never met him (like he didn't engage cruise engines, like he didn't retreat.. i mean like nothing happened) his name is LPI-Karl.Agathon(S) ...
What happened then to me forced me to examine my fights when I am lagging while fighting... and always when I am lagging I write in system chat something like //sorry guys, way to laggy, I am retreating .. Thing is that i noticed that people who don't care if they win or loose (everyone wants to win) do that... they rather retreat then torment somebody with their lag and in the end they defeat somebody that without lag they couldn't kill.... But in the other hand all of us don't live in Europe close to server and have small ping, and I understand people who live on other continents and want to play this game no matter what. That is okay in my book, I am talking about people who have small ping and for some reason (downloading..etc) have terrible lag... And they are using it to win.. I saw that couple times...

As someone who plays with pretty much constant yellow and red lag - i've still managed to RP. I Never do too well in PVP, i've had a couple of rare nights where it was actually doable, but usually i lag you and get killed pretty fast...
A ping limit would suck, because its still possible to RP with bad lag.

Yeah lag sucks sometimes, but it is part of the server. Ussually people are willing to work through it.

Also, something that can help for people with very high ping is.. Big ships!
Ya, you can't lag around in a Gunboat or a Cruiser.
I know it's not fair, I'm just saying it.
I prefer fighters as well, no one could make me fly a big ship!

Back on topic.
I'm over here and I run with a semi ok Ping against one player with no NPC's but once those NPC's start swarming who ever is fighting, I start lagging worse than someone that's playing from the moon. It's not just their connection keep in mind, it's how many NPC's are swarming and how many programs they have open in the background using the Internet Connection too.

My dialup gets VERY bad sometimes, and its just not a good idea for either party to continue the fight... it seems only fair to bug out.
But as for the original poster's idea to ban all people who lag or something like that? kinda silly... everyone lags sometime, and theres no way to tell if it is on purpose or something they can't control..

I was dodging like mad in a Liberator and still got hit a lot, and I think I know how to dodge.
I'v met quite a few of these and I refused to fight them.

This can go both ways, as i was not laggin, and me and a fellow outcast was training, but he was lagging...
yes we couldnt hit each other but every so often he was absolutly still and i just shot him until he died...
yet on his screen he was moving around lagging... so yes it can be used as a pvp advantage, but to both players.
and if you dont like fighting laggers then dont fight them, as chopper said, its pointless, and if ur not enjoying yourself playing the game, THEN WHY PLAY IT?
The whole point of the game, and this server is to enjoy yourself while playing with other people, some who are better some who are worse.
Lag happens.
Edit: the guy i was fighting is a top class bloke aswell, it wasnt his fault, as i said before lag happens.

In the first group go people who lag and all of the sudden just quietly float in space, ending dead.
