Personally I think there should be SOME sort of bs that an indie could buy, obviously not a civilian bs because that would just be...well...not realistic. But something....

Just put Civilian ships on any base in the Independent Worlds (Magellan, Kepler, etc.). Also, put the Dromedary freighter on one of these bases too, since there isn't a civilian freighter (only transports).

The luxury liner can only have a adv. transport shield class 7, that is not even good enough to hold off a fighter.

Only if you're not shooting back. Besides, that thing has ludicrous armor. I hate fighting the damn things, especially if they're trading regens to their escorts.

I agree with the concept of this change but having civ ships sold almost every where is unfair to zoners and would be a hassle. Also border stations don't look big enough to have ships on board ready to sell by the dozens. They should be more spread out at the Freeports and zoner bases. I like the idea of the dromadary being sold at the independant worlds though thats good. If you look at it there is a freeports and zoner bases every where if we just spread out the sale of ships a little more it would be great. It would take a fair bit of work to figure out what bases they should be sold at though

A little off the cuff but:-
Why would a civilian want a Battleship?
The question being in the name...Battle?
If you need one, why not have a civilian gunship...say a modified liner as has been suggested. Upgrade turrets to a combination of gunboat and cruiser turrets. Upgrade the shield and then reduce cargo space for all the extra equipment. It would be tough, but not able to stand up to a real warship.
You could then make it available in every house system.
Just my thoughts...

800~1000 cargo space , 4 class 8 turrets , 0~4 class 5 turrets ( dunno if it would fit that well ...) , 6000 hull , gunboat shields.
Something along these lines ? Heck , id buy it.

I don't think civilians need anything except something like a car and a bus. And not any more than like 2 or 3 guns cause they really don't need them
oh, and
car=starflier
van=rhino without the guns and more windoes
bus=mammoth with more windows without guns and more passanger-ish

Which is why I said. Why should civilians have VHFs.
Also Ageira being a faction concerned with science and research could have mad e a ship for themselves. Why not make fly a Patriot?
I mean all the factions(lawful) can fly their own basic house ships, like Planetform flying Banshees etc.
