Isn't Sol System just... well... 800 (if not less) light years away from actual Sirius? Let's remember that pre-Sirian Alliance and Coalition used hyperdrive, which however also took days to travel between planets and had rather interplanetar use. The same hyperdrive was used by the Sleeper Ships, so...

Villanous K'Vosh commanded a K'Hara army into Sol, busted the place and then headed elsewhere outside the galaxy to continue the purge. Lucky humans.

Now reallyyy, the exact reasons won't ever be unveiled by official sources, so it's up to your own imagination.

This is really an interesting topic to get into.

As far as the Suncrusher goes. We can't really say for sure if it was destroyed. I'd imagine the blast from Sol would have engulfed the entire system within minutes or seconds. I guess it would depend on how fast Nomads can travel.

The funniest theory of mine is that Nomads actually acted in... self-defence. Why?

Well, when I rewatched Extended Intro for a longer time, I've noticed that few fighters hit Suncrusher by accident, right after humongous Nomad vessel decloacked. Taking it as act of hostility, Suncrusher turned onto sun, fired its stuff and cloaked away, leaving Sol to its new fate.

Edit:
My other theory was that it was Coalition which gained access to some kind of probe and reverse-engineered Daam K'vosh technology. Sources for this theory? There's a mission in Starlancer, during which Alliance pilots witness a completely new structure, which is a jump-gate (interplanetar one, instead of actual long-range jumpgate) built and used by Coalition.

It could be the reason on why Nomads went on rampage to Sol.
