RE: Hand out adaptive nomad weaponry to Freelancers/Pirates? What changed? - darkwind - 04-22-2020 That's funny, seeing at least three names of the administration who voted No for this change. RE: Hand out adaptive nomad weaponry to Freelancers/Pirates? What changed? - Burning - 04-22-2020 I don't defend the decision that was made, personally I don't mind the change, but I'd like to mention the following. A survey from 2016 does not represent the playerbase (or their interest) in 2020. Also, the surveys question is whether people want adaptive Nomad weaponry for Freelancers/Pirates, while this decision granted access to it for every ship, that's a big difference. The Order ID Wrote:Can attack Wild, Nomad, Outcasts, BHG, BHG Core, LSF, MND, Kempeitai and BIS ships, and any ships equipped with Nomad equipment. I wouldn't mind about this implementation, but do youreally want to see Order or Core ganks across Sirius to clean each nomad adapted carrier? That is, more or less, working as intended. Yes. This change is the first step in progressing some Nomad machinations and developing how their regional adversaries react to them. The influx of illegal nomad derived tech is expected to cause conflict, which is a key aspect and intention of the change. The Order will want to curtail their use as a potentially dangerous tech, and possible vector for Nomad influence. The Core will want to curtail their use as an egregious example of IP theft, which is damaging their long term commercial exploitation of the technology. RE: Hand out adaptive nomad weaponry to Freelancers/Pirates? What changed? - Egon Bigmemes - 04-23-2020 adapted guns are not APM only products considering they existed long before core as some omicron nomad tech empire just throwing that out there RE: Hand out adaptive nomad weaponry to Freelancers/Pirates? What changed? - Hemlocke - 04-23-2020 Story wise, utterly crap implementation, makes utterly no sense. "Mysterious Forces" that's... well obviously someone nomad related and they would have no reason to hand their own stuff out to pretty much everyone, that's fairly stupid. Do I care much in the long run? Nope, gonna be a tad annoying to see everyone and their mother using purple guns instead of their faction guns, but that doesn't really hurt anything but my pet peeves and eyes, so not an issue. I'm just disappointed there isn't more lore writing involved with these decisions so they don't just seem like "it just happened, thought we'd let you know with a very vague hardly single paragraph of lore to keep it loosely roleplay oriented" strange and definitely not seamless implementation to the game. Other than that, cool I guess...? Edit: I by no means mean a constitution level document, but a bit more flavor would be interesting. I'd be completely fine if the guns were complete ass considering this is old tech and most factions in Sirius have improved upon their original techs. Hope it doesn't turn out like Vanilla-lancer where everyone has the same setup RE: Hand out adaptive nomad weaponry to Freelancers/Pirates? The change thread is just a very small summary describing what the difference is, i.e. the revised gun infocard and the mechanical change. News articles will be included in the next patch with some of the in-universe impact, and the Aoi (current Wild faction) have also been RPing an arms dealing front company in-game and on the forums with this in mind for some time. The change gives people the capability to use the guns, where they previously couldn't. This opens doors for additional avenues of RP around actually procuring the things, and the Wild distributing them against the Houses' will. |
