Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Spear - 12-11-2008 I run a Junker ID, Junker tagged firefly, I run exclusively between unlawful bases or Zoner. Usually I will haggle if someone attempts to pirate me and in one case I offered a donation to the Corsairs as I had brought Gold to their shipyard and they claimed not to need any. So I offered a 2 mill bribe instead. Gold would be my only legal cargo run , purchased on a Molly base and sold on a Corsair one. Remember Junkers enemies are Xenos, Hogosha and House Corperations, this means Junkers may dock on a police base planet like Manhattan, it also means Junkers should not dock on House Corporation bases for example Interspace Commerces base at Newark. So running legal goods as a Junker has some limits. Incidently, Artifact smugglers should be delivering to Rochester and Beumont, in RP the Junkers take delivery of smuggled goods and fence it through to the lawful bases they have access to. Not only is it very bad RP to speed dock on Manhattan under fire from the law, you are also under-cutting the Junkers trade. I wouldnt be suprised if our official Junker group decides that they will start punishing indie smugglers who by-pass their fencing operations! Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - RingoW - 12-11-2008 Off topic. Thats why i have opened another one. Topic name might be not so good though, to start a discussion about Junker rp opinions. http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28471 AoM Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - farmerman - 12-11-2008 While it's certainly not a reason to avoid being pirated (just like with Zoners), when it happens, both sides should RP it out. You'd think that would be obvious but... The one thing that bothers me is when people try to pirate Junkers and immediately go land on Yanagi afterwards. Ok, I only saw something of the sort once, but I think if you pirate someone in a system where their faction has a base, you shouldn't be landing on said base for a while. (Though, again, that isn't Junker-specific) Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - blubba - 12-11-2008 I have a junker character, ID'd smuggler. Been around for well over a year now. I try to RP him but a lot of pirates won't let you. It used to be the BH who just shot on sight. Not so long ago I was accused of running Molly gold to the corsairs. I'm not sure how the Molly in question 'knew' this but it isn't actually true. Aside from which, I often bought Synthetic weed from them rather than gold. Having been taxed right outside Arranmore dropping software there to trade for their gold, I don't do it anymore. It's not like they export much else so their loss. @ the Mollies: Gold, the last time I looked, is a taxable commodity by corsairs. I suggest you read the council declaration. You get caught with it by them and you can be taxed. Incidentally, most pirates will RP because life is pretty dull otherwise. I always try to and will generally pay up if pressed. It shouldn't matter what your IFF/ID says. If your running Cardi, you wouldn't expect to get stopped by the Outcasts or their allies. Same goes for the other commodities/factions. Just common sense really. As I re-call, a similar thing happened with Zoners not so long ago claiming immunity. They soon gave up on that idea. As for an Outcast engaging a Molly, maybe a short comms to the RoS or 101st might resolve that problem...permanantly. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Baltar - 12-12-2008 @ Spear: Well ... when we see limits on Trader ID'd folk I'd support similar limitations on Junker ID'd folk. Reason I say this ... Traders dock on lawful bases and unlawful bases as if they were best friends with everyone. Traders are not neutrals. There are rivals among industries. All traders should read up on what the various corporations think of each other. Its strange to find a corporation who is enemy to another corporation docking on each other's bases. @ Ktayn: That bothers me as well ... but I'm also bothered with a Bounty Hunter who hunts and kills pirates and other unlawfuls and then docks on Yanagi ... especially when Yanagi and other Junker bases can find Corsairs, Rogues, Outcasts, etc in the bar drinking together. @ blubba: Corsairs taxing Gold to those who bring gold TO them? Think I'd stop bringing Gold to Corsairs ... its called supply and demand. Great way to decrease your supply of Gold ... yeah ... enjoy yourself. As for the council declaration ... is that a player faction declaration or something you'll find in the NPC rumor mill? If its in the player faction declarations ... you're becoming too much like Liberty. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - BaconSoda - 12-12-2008 Best one I ever got was a Zoner telling my FA that the Niobium was going to a Freeport to build Biodomes. Cuz that helped so much.... Thank you, Elgato, eloquently put. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - farmerman - 12-12-2008 As to Junkers and corporate bases, while it isn't the best thing in a lot of cases, I would think Bretonia would take all the help they could get given their current situation. Quote:@ Ktayn: That bothers me as well ... but I'm also bothered with a Bounty Hunter who hunts and kills pirates and other unlawfuls and then docks on Yanagi ... especially when Yanagi and other Junker bases can find Corsairs, Rogues, Outcasts, etc in the bar drinking together. I'm not bothered by that - I'm just bothered they manage to evade being shot in the back every single time. :P Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Spear - 12-12-2008 @ Baltar: Briefly swerving off-topic, I have made my displeasure with generic ID's known in the past. Seems almost everyone is a Trader ID, with only a few good RP'ers choosing a faction ID. Traders ID's dock everywhere, so do smugglers, Pirate ID's buy a Sabre stick Tizonas on it and hang around Sig 13, Military ID holders zoom about Sirus as if they are Interpol. Generic ID's are a get out of you ZOI card and I'm not a fan of them. I'm not sure why Junker ID's should be limited more than they are, yes they get abused by power traders, same as the Zoner ID's, people use them to try and get out of being pirated but that's a new player problem who doesnt understand RP, but they will learn, or be blown up by a pirate! On topic: Junkers enemies are House Corperations. No House Corperation base would be granting a Junker docking permission, it's just like a Corsair docking on Malta or a Rogue docking on the Missouri, it should not happen. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Baltar - 12-12-2008 @ Spear: My 2 credits ... generic ID's should be admin approved and admin provided ... including the Trader ID. Generics are basically a sub-class of Freelancer ID ... Freelancer Trader, Freelancer Pirate, Freelancer Smuggler, etc ... they're all Freelancers but just specialized in a certain occupation. The generics are designed to be separate from factions. They are independent and alone. Not everyone is a member of an organization. I don't see why people should be forced into some group simply because someone says so. But I do agree that to wear a generic ID you'd have to have some evidence of role play capability. On topic: Zoners are allied with Order ... so why do Zoners dock in Liberty? And don't tell me the info card is wrong because that will not fly with me. I've got a Junker in a "Rheinland Pirate Cruiser" which in my opinion is an info card that is incorrectly marked. So if we claim the Zoner info card is wrong ... then logic would say that a ship sold on a Junker base would be a Junker ship ... not to mention that its against the rules for a Pirate to have a Cruiser. EDIT: Just waiting to see how much longer it takes admins to lock this thread ... hint hint. CORRECTION: How long the moderators take to lock it. Junker - "NO PIRATING ALLOWED" - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 12-12-2008 Yeah, I ussualy get a few ZF destroyers to escort me before i go out Niobiuming the place up. |
