This is a fantastic model. I especially like that it has no gun/turret mounts. That'll make it very interesting in a fight. Should be a junker only ship.

Well, firstly, you can't ignore the BHG caps, hence, they have who to fight against. But that aside, why does it always have to be about fighting? Y'know, sometimes, just flying around in such a cool ship can be enough.

It's not like we will shoot any capital going around. But trust me, the life as Junker isn't so peacefull as you evidently think. Even now we use bombers quite often and that need surely won't be degrading with 4.85.

Junkers can get a "heavier" Collector yes, but it would be mainly utility/pirating vessel (against lone transports) not a superbomber monster. More like junker version of a pirating freighter.

The stats are really funny if you think about it and take into account your infocard:
imagine SN + inferno + mini... with the 4k regen it can fire SN about every 3 seconds (so on each pass).

Btw. Junkers have 3 ships in 4.85 already.


This ship is not "overpowered" (or can be simply adjusted if needed). It isn't meant to be a lawnmower that will chew up all in its path. It will be taking hits like crazy and it has no defense but its three guns and Junkers DO need such a ship and it DOESN"T contradict their role play. The US has ICBMs yet has never fired one at an enenmy. Sometimes having capability IS the point. "Walk softly and carry a big stick".

When vanilla Freelancer put in Junkers, they aren't even in the game (sp). You go through the entire sp campaign without interacting with Junkers as part of the storyline. They are far removed from the Nomad action and pretty oblivious to most of it I'd imagine.

No threats, business as usual to them. Trent saves us all from the Nomads and its like, "Oh--we were in danger but its ok now?"--back to business as usual.

Now we merge with the Disco world. Technological developments have caused the firepower and weapons of ships to exponentially increase in effectiveness (which will be very relevant in 4.85). Hogosha are helping Corsairs, Corsairs are helping the Order, Outcasts get along with Nomads and the Wild have appeared from no where. Kusari is on the brink of an outright war on Junkers and they are also about to be sandwiched inbetween a Liberty-Rheinland war. Terrorist groups infiltrate their bases to stage raids on house shipping. The Junkers have their own home system with a shipyard, smelter and bases and homeland defense guard. Throw in Dragon, outcast and Corsair and indie pirates claiming Junker bases as their staging points and even more reason.

It isn't the same world. So now we have Junkers flying around in gunboats from the IMG or in bonafide Cruisers built from Hessian war salvage but a single-purpose bomber is somehow a massive abuse of their role play?

The reason for this proposal is so you don't see Junkers all over in IMG gunboats, flying Falcattas and cruising in Cruisers. It also is quite practical to use these vessels to assist in commerce raiding and "we sell it for profit" is a great cover for building a raiding ship that can also be used against groups intruding dangerously near their bases. Sigma 13 is the "Wild West" of Junkers. There is no law but the law of the gun and diplomacy when you can find someone to listen. Its pirate and hunter playground there along with the Wild.

Also, a very simple nerf is to restrict the firing arcs of the weapons mostly forward. Its a very balanced ship weapons wise and the "massive" fire rate is necessary to take on capital ships. Compare the damage a cap ship is doing while the minirazors ping on it. This ship would be a great gunboat killer but its going to have to work to take down bigger ships. Reducing the recharge is fine if needed--what do you suggest?

Restrict the firing arcs to say a 60 degree frontal area. This ship will reduce cap spam with Junkers which to me is much more believable than gunboats and cruisers. And in light of current conditions in DISCO-Sirius you are telling me Junkers would "trust" those they have deals (no alliances) with and NOT have an "ace in the hole" somewhere?

They are such a trusting folk after all. And in regards to Gallia...you may well have two reactions in play: Those Junkers who see opportunity and seek to curry favor with the new market and those who realize they were played as pawns and abandoned and completely distrust them. They will see Gallic criminal groups and possibly the government there as a threat. You could call the Tripe "Leverage" if that makes it clearer.

Political enforcement. Pirate in gunboat says, "All your base belong to us now...what are you going to do about it, scrapman?" A Recycler flies out--no firing, not a word said. Gunboat says, "oh" and suddenly is engaging cruise engines. Back to scrap collecting.

Junkers are also entitled to take criminal bounties. This is a great assassination ship.

Waoo. Very nice ship, Junkers and a Bomber though?

Aunno, not really sure about that. If their gonna be uncovered as being linked to Gallia wont they just import theirs? Junkers are a very grey faction so it's very possible for someone like a merc to take that bomber; being a corsair-junker hybrid; and use it against corsairs.
