Good day, Minister!

We've delivered one load of Xenobiotic Filters as requested. However, there was an issue with the second shipment. The harbormaster at Cold Bay Depot loaded Nanomembrane Filters by accident instead of the required cargo. We were reimbursed by the local Mercantile Guild office on Freeport 10 for the mixup, but that still leaves our contract unfulfilled.

Rest assured that I take my responsibilities as Shipmaster seriously, and fully intend to make good on the contract. We will be returning to the Hudson system straight away to pick up the proper cargo. You will find proof of delivery for the initial load of filters attached to this message.

Message Contents:

Today, while moving Niobium to Houston in Liberty, I was accosted by Lane Hackers in California. Specifically a Mr. Yoshida, who seemed a little put out that I didn't know who he was. I was clearly outgunned and had no chance to make it to the next lane ring, so I cut my engines as requested. I managed to get off several cutting remarks, though. In hindsight, mouthing off to a pirate probably wasn't my best strategy. But I digress. He ordered me off the lanes and into open space. When we arrived at the designated coordinates, he proceeded to question me about my faction affiliation and about the Natio's history. I explained what I could, but told him that I was a recent arrival and not entirely educated on the subject. He asked me to deliver a message, that Professor Yoshida of the Lane Hackers has your cargo, then ordered me to drop all my cargo. He said we could get it back if someone from the government contacted him.

All,

Thanks to the efforts of Captain Riley and the crew of the Aluminum Falcon, we are well on track to unveiling our latest project. Some of you are no doubt aware of the distressingly large, habitat-like station that was found off the beaten path, deep in the Tau-44 system's Massakar asteroid field a month and a half ago. Its exact purpose will be revealed when we are ready to begin its use, but for now let me just say that when that time comes, we will finally have a real home.

Additionally, I have an operational report. This evening after a friendly chat with some Auxesians in Coronado, I escorted the mercantile guild train Overscan to Cambridge, then up to the Gallic Border Worlds to deliver a load of Med-Stasis Bands to the Council and back down to safe territory. I brought back with me a sample of the Med-Stasis Bands from Cambridge Research Station and a sample of what the Council commodities broker I talked to on Planet Marne said was a highly refined form of promethium used for tempering Gallic fusion reactor output. It's thoroughly safely locked up in tamper-proof shielded canisters, and will be studied for possible uses.

Recon Kite 1, reporting. Without a fighter and without logs.

While patrolling the coreward Taus, I picked up civilian distress beacons on Bretonian channels and went to investigate. I found a mixed Bretonian-Libertonian fleet engaged with cultist warships. I attempted to provide support by harassing the bombers, but the warships turned their attention to me in response.

It might take me a bit to get back, I'm in medical at the moment. Nothing serious, just holding in case of any undetected injury. Hopefully at least the effort was noticed.

All,

It has been seven years since the passing of John Peter Petrucci, the founder of the Vagrant Raiders and first CO of the Metropolis. Our current position in the universe is in no small part due to his tireless efforts during his time on this plane. He gave his life so that the remaining Raiders after the Battle of Freeport One could keep going, and years later we became what we are now. A nation, albeit a small one.

John's family owned a farm of decent size and associated estate on Malta that, after his passing, went into the care of the Vagrant Raiders. We have not touched it in nearly five years, but as we have recently rediscovered the deed for the property and are back in good standing with Malta, we are in a position to restore it.

I will be taking a trip to Malta with five scouts to determine the situation. Another sixteen Octavarian citizens will be temporarily positioned in orbit, waiting to begin bringing the farm back up to operating capacity as full-time employment if state of affairs is considered adequate for revival. If things are... unpleasant, the Amalfi Directorate has offered us legal assistance in making them pleasant again.

For those of you who aren't Cardamine users, charge your filters, ladies and gentlemen. Business is about to get a little bit orange.

Save Yourself is going to need to be rebuilt. Mobility and armor are problematic. Onboard recon systems worked fine, suggest saving those parts for something else.

We'll source replacement Ahoudori parts. The loadout still needs some adjustment, as well. I have concerns about the reliability of the Annihilator, and it doesn't have enough range to reliably avoid counterattack from heavy warships.

We'll make our way back. The escape shuttles worked fine, we managed to get a ride out on a smuggler's freighter. Then commandeered it when he tried to sell us out. Give us some time, we'll make our way back.

Bretonian forces didn't seem to be doing well in the engagement in Leeds, several went down before Save Yourself finally gave up. Royalist tactics appear to consist of a phalanx-like arrangement of Valors that can only feasibly be broken with long-range bombardment - bombers at maximum range or artillery ships. Common swarm tactics, which wouldn't be viable for us anyway, won't work.
