So that it's inside the model. Even without the whole hitreg concern, the proportions of the ship are just not suitable for PvP, which just goes to show even though the ship looks nice, the modeler probably wasn't considering its pvp performance while deciding on its general silhouette. Considering the typical engagement range of battlecruisers (and we dont get that many large scale battles anymore, so any plausible cap combat situation is far more manageable), if this thing is scaled anywhere in the typical BC range, anyone who knows what they're doing can take advantage of the disproportionate profiles to make this thing nigh unhittable, regardless of the hitbox.
Moreso, the model has to (ideally) be centered to a spot that offers at least half as much vertical leeway as it does horizontally, which is just not possible in this model, and due to the general shape of the model, even some bandaid solutions like restricting the turret arcs to force the player to rely on exposing the top profile for max firepower isn't really an option either. Here's a quick size comparison, with top one scaled to fit the typical length of a battlecruiser, which ends up with the ship being as thin as the Liberty Cruiser, and the bottom one having the main chunk of the body at the typical battlecruiser height, which ends up making the model as long (and practically the same size) as the Liberty dreadnought. ![]() It's a nice model, visually, but its pvp performance will certainly be problematic if it's thrown in without any adjustments to its side profile. RE: Poll: Which One Is the Better Bretonian BC? - Felsvar - 05-31-2018 ![]() This could possibly fix it. Beefing up the mesh underside. With that big cylinder (guess it's the ship core reactor) widening the upperside of the ship. Putting the center mass on that area. It's just a thought. RE: Poll: Which One Is the Better Bretonian BC? - bakugone - 05-31-2018 Five and six is.. just.. my favourite!
