Embargoes - SigCorps - 04-01-2009 Something that has just come up today is the effect this will have on Freeport 2. Now this is one point of RP that the embargo has created. What is to happen with FP2. With no goods comming in or out that station could become a ghost town. With Berring basically shut down everyone there would leave or face starvation, depending on how long this embargo lasts. The Liberty government has condemmed an entire station to die. Not the effect I think they were looking for. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. And for things other than food, they could get them from the Unioners, who must be getting all sorts of extra plunder these days. Embargoes - casero - 04-01-2009 That could be sorted out, if zoners talk to the Navy high command. I don't know how it works in the Rheinland side, but can't the zoners get their provitions from there? And you're forgetting that one entire factions is based in bering, the Unioners, how is this gonna affect them? and how are they gonna work with it? Dunno. Embargoes - Guest - 04-01-2009 ' Wrote:1. Someone explain how the current Liberty embargo creates additional roleplaying....... I'll answer each numbered section as my point of view allows. 1. There used to be a route that I had roleplayed with both Liberty Lawfuls and Rheinland Lawfuls. It was that of a Rheinland Blockade Runner (Yes, mwerte, you kinda nailed it, but i'd have prefered the discovery be done after about a week or so and, more possibly.. ingame). I would tell Rheinland the lie saying that I was shipping to and from Freeport 2, while I told Liberty the truth that I was bringing in supplies for Duluth Shipyards (it being so far out of the way, it hardly receiving any real decent shipments) [EDIT]The smuggling cover, should a Rheinland lawful choose to follow me out to see where I was really going, I also had planned by a secondary route. Which each time a Rheinlander questioned my trade, I'd offer the idea of him following me out on my next shipment.[/EDIT] 2. Even without the embargo, we, or anyone else for that matter, cant be everywhere. If a trader needs to, he can report pirate activity on private or system chat. There is no "overemphasis" on Texas. Lawful presence there has not increased or decreased as its still the system that almost all blatant contraband (cardi, slaves, artifacts) go through, or atleast iv yet to see that change. 3. The first thread im not sure what the issue was. The second thread however, Against the GST.... That speaks for itself. That group of players have attacked Liberty Lawfuls quite often without provocation. When I first encountered them, they were (drumroll please) coming out of Alaska. A transport, whale, and luxury liner. I destroyed the whale. From there, to Colorado where i finally caught up to them (in NY i could only get just inside of 2k), they suddenly opened fire on me. The lux liner fled after taking a good bit of damage, then I went back to the transport. When he was down to half health, the lux liner came back and opened fire again. The GST themselves are to blame for the hostility they have received from Liberty Lawfuls, not ours. Also, remember that they have been given a way out of the hostilities. They have to this date, refused that offer. Whenever they decide to roleplay some form of compensation as requested, the hostilities will no doubt end. 4. Agreed, imports should always be welcomed, as they supply the house that has the embargo in place. Exports, especially military supplies, should stay banned with the exception of human cargo, however. Now, I'm not going to drop any rhymes along the lines of your prime time being sidelined by the battlelines dampening your tradelines (think I fumbled that one), but what I'm saying is that I do hope that you're not angsty that some of your trade routes are mucked because of something as annoying as a war. Don't make me pull out the RL reference. Please don't make me do it. Two nations at war do not trade with one another. It worked for mom and pop, it works for us. If people wanna fire up that firefly and sneak some engine components from Rheinland to Liberty more power to 'em! There's profit and fun to it. But if you're going to look at me with a straight face and reckon it's within the realm of reason and logic for a Universal shipping transport to slip between the firefights with a load of T-shirts to offload to the good children on Berlin in exchange for another cargoload (and thank you!) of tanks, well, I reckon you've gone nutters. *dances* Embargoes - eyvind - 04-01-2009 ' Wrote:Two nations at war do not trade with one another. Take note and learn, all ye factions of Sirius. Embargoes - Markus_Janus - 04-01-2009 ' Wrote:Wait, am I misreading, or are you saying the GMG is getting into terraforming now, too? All the GMG is doing is supplying gasses from Fujisawa to Isehara, and reaping profits from the Plutonium Mines. Embargoes - SigCorps - 04-01-2009 ' Wrote:Doesn't FP2 have several biodomes? Yes it does have biodomes, but some items must be imported to make them work. Plus all the folks who work in the varius industries on station will be out of work now that the good have stopped moving. Although the point about the unioners is correct...god imagine the prices they coud potentialy gouge the zoners. All in all it is not fair to the Zoners who are not involved in the conflict and I could see RP reasons for them shutting down FP2 if this were a long term embargo. Whole families out of work. No money to buy food. Behind on rent. Life on the station would be severly impeaded. Some of us do feel that ZONER tagged / ZONER Iffed transports should be allowed to take medicines, food, water, and air to Freeport 2 and that the Liberty Predident/high Command should meet with the Zoner council. The Zoners are not enemies of Liberty, and it shouldn't be that way now. |
