Pirate Tax (calculator required) - Colonel.Tigh - 03-17-2009 Same stupid debate as always. Play a Corporate Pilote, and you have you RP. The Cargo is enshured depending on its worth, the Crews lives does not come into calculation. The crew does not have any money, the Corp. does, and they dont pay more that they seem fit. - The crew can always pray and begg, but its out of their hands. And I was pirated, not for creds or the deuterium I was hauling, but for the bales of syhtnetic marijuana, and even then they merely took enough for personal use. I once overlooked getting pirated in a cruiser because the guy told me to "tell that cow to shut up" referring to my upset navigator. Derkylos is right: pirates can get the nastiness across in far more memorable ways.well put. words to play by Pirate Tax (calculator required) - MacAulay - 03-17-2009 ' Wrote:And I was pirated, not for creds or the deuterium I was hauling, but for the bales of syhtnetic marijuana, and even then they merely took enough for personal use. Now thats funny! Pirate Tax (calculator required) - MB52 - 03-17-2009 I once pirated a trader for his lunch... (1 food ration in his hold...) Pirate Tax (calculator required) - Elvin - 03-17-2009 Just my 2 cents... Reality: Yes, you would pay the pirate everything you have, give him you clothes if he asked for it, even if your "cargo" was worth 10 credits, and he asked for 10 millions. Just to stay alive. RP: Same as above, but still, remember its a game, HC RP, yes, but still we are here to enjoy it, and asking someone who can be kind of new (1000 cargo transport) for much more than his whole cargo and half of his ship are worth, is ugly thing, and the person who does it is someone who want's to harras new player, or have no real interest in RP, just "Hey, trading is boring, let's make more money by pirating" type ... Please, check the ship, check the cargo, check players level AND then think about what you should ask, taxing everyone for the same amount, or asking a LOT from people who are possibly new here is poor. Sorry if I offended anyone. EDIT: And traders, remember that the pirate isn't really saying " ...Or I will make you lose your cargo!", it is " ...Or you will die!", because yes, if you are going to die, loosing your possessions is the last thing you will care about. Pirate Tax (calculator required) - matt_jh - 03-17-2009 Okay I don't think i saw this mentioned yet in most things i have read a trader is gonna try to run 1st. If he can't get away try to pay his way out and last go down in flames. As a trader I admit I have done some bad RP but mostly these days I have my crew watch the bloody scanners and try to never end up within 5k of pirates. Pirate Tax (calculator required) - Elsdragon - 03-17-2009 Heck It aint just him either! We jump you with 3 hf and a transport gunboat! You run you gunbout......... 1k then die. Of course... I can be reason able. There was a 31 trader... I took 20 platinum. There was a 60 in a transport..... AWAITING LOCKDOWN Pirate Tax (calculator required) - Hood - 03-18-2009 Funniest pirate I came across was in Newcastle, he stopped my AT in a LR gunboat and demanded $10, I said u mean $1 mill, no he said just $10 I need beer money, so I paid and off he went to the nearest bar. At the other extreme 2 pirates in NB wanted something like 3 mill each, I said you will have to kill me for that, so they did, luckily I had my new Kevlar escape pod (or I would not be telling this story). Course my trader'll also make friends with anyone, if they'll just have a drink with him. Booze is the path to peace, prosperity, and enlightenment, after all. |
