Alternative argument to OP, there's 800+ years of genetic engineering, plastic surgery, and probably eugenics. Of course there's going to be a lot of attractive people

There is no beauty without ugliness for contrast. What point is there to do plastic surgery and genetic augmentation when everyone is equally good looking. Not altering one's appearance might become a fashion trend in its own right in such an environment. I just assume that the people of Sirius have come to accept inherent differences in looks, having developed into a civilization with different values in the 800 years since arriving into Sirius.

Or, alternatively, every character without a character picture is in fact ugly but avoids showcasing his/her face over every single comm they send out.

Overuse of emojis is spreading into politics and it's absolutely disgusting. It's unreal when a prime minister or some other official posts a tweet laden with little pictures with flags instead of country names and so on. I understand that there is a limit to the length of a tweet, but still. I don't know what secretary's nephew is running those twitter accounts. It sucks and I hate it.
