Whether or not they do "the right thing" is something the character in question needs to decide upon. What matters for the rest of us is the RP behind the unlawful action committed by the lawful ID, this is because we have a rule that says all characters must play according to their ID, which implies that a lawful ID'ed trader can't smuggle for the sake of smuggling as that would be a breach of the rule. But if there is an role play involved behind the action of smuggling, then it should be okay. RE: Smuggling Is Not Unlawful - Jayce - 07-13-2020 All lawful factions should have access to /nodock for their relevant houses. I flipped a coin lmao edit: this thread so is fucking scuffed RE: Smuggling Is Not Unlawful - Hokan - 07-14-2020 Would you not be a pretty bad smuggler if you tried to smuggle contraband while ID's/IFF'd as a pirate to Manhatten? Smuggling contraband with normal legal items is pretty common, I don't see why it would be considered against ID lines, and therefore rule breaking. So yeah, normal traders can smuggle np. RE: Smuggling Is Not Unlawful - Oggdo Bogdo - 07-14-2020 Maybe instead of giving people more reasons to sanction each other, contraband buy-points should just be made no-dock to lawful factions which have no business being there. RE: Smuggling Is Not Unlawful - Binski - 07-14-2020 It would be nice if every dockable planet had a rear dock point, one that any unlawful could dock on. You'd actually see unlawful ships do smuggling too, and be able to try to sell their stuff at a major planet. As in, put a rear dock point, atmospheric I guess, and allow transports to dock. just make the value a little lower. This would be cool for every capital planet. Then even lawfuls could try the back route to avoid getting caught. Inrp they could make it illegal to use/approach the back of the planet to land. The option would then be there to add an atmo system to allow for a second chance to chase them. That may also put them at risk of being jacked by pirates using the back route too. But perhaps adding an atmo system and prevent people from seeing it on the list. Police, or pirates, could 'lurk' in the atmosphere waiting to see if someone will jump in. That might bring up the value of an escort/scout too. RE: Smuggling Is Not Unlawful - McNeo - 07-14-2020 Better to make the most profitable sell point for contraband an unlawful base in the destination system (so like Buffalo/Rochester for Cardamine instead of Manhattan). Doesn't stop corpos smuggling, does encourage pirate factions to smuggle. RE: Smuggling Is Not Unlawful - Paddy. - 07-14-2020 I did not know it was not unlawful... all that guilt... and angst for no reason. I agree with this. When a faction is compelled by ID to use a smaller transport (Corsairs smuggling Alien Artifacts) it only makes sense to offer bigger returns. This would certainly get me back into smuggling more. Lawfuls won't stop a legit Corp ship carrying legit loads, so then they can concentrate on the more... entertaining transport ships. |
