Because it removes the value of having it changed, that appeal of having a unique title. Also knowing most people, they'll probably put something stupid there.

The only way I’m allowed to customize my avatar is if my cock is 2000 posts bigger than it is and 5 years older. So what if they write something that bothers you, everyone could write “wesker sucks, Big ass cheater, best hessian, better than wesker” on their titles and I wouldn’t give a shit. Why would you let a user title fracture your ego.
It's nothing about ego, although you seem to be very personal with this. It's a nice little thing to work towards your glamour as a show off to say that you earned it. User identity isn't strictly defined by the user title but the avatar, username and user group, arguably the avatar and signature is the most defining in one's personality trait.
I still stand by the opinion that the custom titles should be earned or donated for. It's just extra vanity.

I can easily live with being called old. Stubborn, some of the time and I have been known to clown around. The second and third parts can be easily attributed to most, if not all the Community.
I wouldn't have thought having a Title would have been such an emotive subject.
I couldn't care less if people have a Title or not, it means absolutely nothing, except, maybe, to the person who has it.
If people want titles, then they can have them, as far as I am concerned. Same with the Avatar.
Approach the Team and ask the question, if it is so important to you. Do you need people to back you up, to ask a question?
Then you will know if they are stubborn old clowns or not.

Title option needs to stay restricted for one simple reason:

If all of as lazy bastards get free custom title , people who worked they ass for them wuld say:
"why those lazy asholes get they title for free , while i had to win in XYZ event by not sleeping for 3 days ?"
And they wuld be completly right!
And after that you will get even more buthurt,riots and bickering in forum, and for what, few latters anybody hardly even notice ?
Lock this up ,stop looking for problems that dont exist and look how to solve ones that are real.
