It has been some time since we made contact and a neutrality pact with K’hara. After that, peculiar encounters have happened, but nothing fruitful in terms of knowledge or technology acquisition, the main reason why we are trying to deal with them. I decided to take a bold step and entered into their Worlds.

I travelled deeply into their space, waiting response from them. Exploring the area is a pleasure to the eyes; nomads secure their surroundings strongly, the sight of innumerable vessels in the horizon was astounding. Without trying to put my situation in jeopardy, after I quickly passed the destroyed planet, I reached one of the most profound and dangerous zones in Sirius: Omicron Major.

As expected, when I arrived at Omicron Major, things started to get convoluted. A single K’hara vessel, Ljosberinn, attended to my call. It was particularly aggressive towards me and my crew; it probably did not anticipate my sudden presence in this place. The Nomad communicated, with apparent angriness, that I was not welcomed in there; this reaction was not surprise to me, after all we were invading their home.

I tried to convey into our interests, unsuccessfully, and then it gave me a vision of menacing warning: Omicron Iota, Omicron Major and Omicron Psi are off-limits for humans. Finally, we exited the place, trying to cool things, not before emphasizing our posture regarding them. Their intrusive communication techniques baffle me, but what concerns me most is how we could reach a more prosperous consensus with these not trustworthy beings. We have seen too many Nomad interlopers in Omicron Alpha and it makes me wonder if we can really expect more than target practice in home. Regardless of that, further encounters are required to prove their real usefulness.

On a more relaxed matter, as I have travelled through the Omicrons, it seems that our relations with Artificial Intelligence are progressing. I found one of them in Kappa, AI_Dream, removing some unpleasant visitors for the machine. Unlike other AI vessels, this one was not focused in scanning or exploration, but safekeeping its home in Gammu. It displayed openness with us, the AI ship did not consider us as threat and we received a fair treatment for our interference. Ultimately, we had a little and cordial talk and then we departed to our own ways.

Report: Expedition Report
Stardate: 09.06.828

Greetings Alphas. Thanks to the assistance of several of our friends and allies, the Campeador has just returned from an expedition into the Sigma systems. While it was far from a success, we did uncover several interesting pieces of information.

08/06/828

Early on 08/06/828 we received orders from Alpha Montalban to perform an exploratory expedition into the sigma systems, following the intelligence that Capitan Montalban had previously received from interrogating a freelancer in Shikoku.

We departed Planet Malta for Tau-37, aiming to retrace the probable route of the smuggler interdicted in Shikoku. We proceeded through Tau-53 into Hokkaido, where we had brief sensor contact with an Auxo Technocracy vessel, but were unable to confirm the identification before losing contact in the nebula. After that we proceeded without incident through New Tokyo, Honshu and into the Sigmas.

Passing through Sigma-21, we entered Sigma-17, where the freelancer had indicated that the Luxury Liner Hawaii was located. We began a thorough search of the system, but were unable to locate the vessel. We did, however, identify and map several hostile installations.

We were proceeding to the jump hole to Sigma-19 when we made contact with a Corsair vessel, the Cambi. We engaged the enemy, who fought with skill and courage uncommon to their savage kind. At the end, suffering critical damage, they withdrew likely believing us to be dead. We received several direct hits to our reactor, causing us to dump the reactor core, and venting all of our fuel reserves.

09/06/828

Maintenance crews worked through the night to stabilize what they could. The reactor was restored to basic functionality, but without fuel we were unable to start it. We drifted into the Kunashir Cloud, before being caught in the gravity of Kurile and slingshotted out again.

It was then that we began receiving hallucinatory visions. I initially dismissed them as mere psychological strain, but that was shown to be inaccurate when a nomad vessel abruptly appeared in space nearby. We attempted to communicate, but with our communication system only working intermittently, and the nomad’s “visions” as confusing as usual it was a slow process. We believe that the nomad wished us to give it some of the prisoners we’d captured the previous day. I saw no harm in this, as none of them were particularly notable, and they were just using up our limited oxygen supplies. Upon jettisoning them, the nomad tractored them in, and broadcasted a wider vision, which we believe led to our eventual rescue.

What happened next, however, I cannot fully explain. It seems that the nomad wanted to recruit us somehow. Asking us to betray our kin. We of course refused, assisting the nomads is one thing, but we would sooner die than betray Malta. Enraged, the nomad attacked us, bombarding us with mines before departing.

Shortly afterwards, the MNS Amalfi detected us, apparently guided by the nomad vessel. They rendered assistance enough to restore full communications and minimal reactor power. We proceeded at impulse to Sigma-19, to rendezvous with the Tercio for additional repairs. En route, the zoner vessel Flash Magnus joined us, providing enough fuel for us to engage cruise engines. Once through to Sigma-19 a Yonoki Misaki piloting a GC bomber joined us as well for security against any potential hostiles. Around this time we were passing planet Hiran, and we detected Luxury Liner Hawaii in orbit. It seems the freelancer was either mistaken, or the ship had changed positions since.

We reached the Tercio without incident, taking on additional fuel and spares to bring the Campeador’s shield generators back online. We then proceeded to Omicron Beta, and from there home to Malta.

Results

Operating in Kusari and the Sigmas is risky, even before the battle with the corsair, we did not detect a friendly base after leaving Kyushu until reaching the Tercio in Sigma-19. Substantial logistic support will be required for operating large ships in the region, smaller vessels may fare better as they can operate without taxing the Tercio beyond her own operational requirements.

Aside from the corsair vessel and the nomad, we did not encounter a significant enemy presence. I find this surprising, especially since at peak, we had a convoy of 4 vessels moving slowly through what is supposed to be GMG claimed space. This would seem to balance the risk of operating so far from friendly bases. Since we now know the exact location of the Hawaii, I propose a follow-up expedition from a destroyer or gunboat class vessel.

During the existence of this organization, we have encountered several nomad vessels and these circumstances have been varied in terms of affinity. Our first contact with a vast nomad fleet pointed us to a direction of neutrality and further communication, which it even was backed up by assistance against our foes; on the contrary, there have been moments that they just engaged us without constraint. Moreover, there have been those that encourage us to confront others for their own benefits.

To be brief and concise, there is a clear pattern of disagreement, or at least different disposition between them. Their configuration and their signatures are not only distinct, but also the way they communicate and feel about us. At first, we took some assumptions about them regarding their purposes, backed by our own previous experiences before this group was formed, and many of them were wrong, as expected. Each time we discover one clue to their mysteries, two more appear.

Telepathy is common in their kind, but their behaviors differ substantially. K’hara configuration vessels seem to transmit emotions and visions more often than their Vagrant counterparts; meanwhile these last ones use a more direct approach to their speech, with a straightforward human-like dialogue. Their invasiveness and easy entry into our minds are troubling; even if they were defeated in the past they remain vigilant in the void, shadows lurking for the innocent to be caught, trapped in the claws of the so-called Light. They can act with reason when is needed, and even with curiosity; but other times the aliens just eradicate everyone they see. Despite several involvements are not conclusive enough to reach a consensus regarding this matter, we know how their comportment could probably result from certain stimuli.

Still, more investigations are needed for a better understanding of nomads and to determine what they will plan to do in the future, and more importantly, what are they planning for the Maltese.

When I met a Vagrant configuration vessel, Deiopea, in Omicron Delta, I wanted to know more about their species and I started to ask for more knowledge about them; restraining our hostilities for a moment to reach unique information. Just after we started communication, an Outcast pilot arrived, Anita Moreno; she seemed to be in a desperate situation involving her daughter, supplicating to the nomad entity to help her. During this conversation, Deiopea mentioned the name Harbinger. It appeared that this is a special entity is in a high echelon of the nomads, as it “commands” them. Anita Moreno also knew some of it:

[10.06.2021 20:28:57] Anita.Moreno: The Harbinger whispers riddles. It would never be different. Ponder what you basked in, crew of Destino-Final.

Unbeknownst to me, several visitors arrived and hell broke loose, interrupting the inquiry. A couple of Core ships distracted the Vagrant, but after they left quickly, the Gallics arrived. GSB]-Gaston:Corbeil, UC~Cacciadore-Noir and UC~Alfredo:Orsini reached our destination, looking for trouble. To make things worse, a Corsair battleship, Taurus|CNS-Leros came to assist them. Anita Moreno evacuated safely from the area, but the Vagrant vessel and my crew were caught in the crossfire. Eventually, my ship was severely damaged and disabled. Evacuation procedures were in effect.

Time passed before the battlecruiser was recovered and fully functional again. Returned to Malta, we found Anita Moreno again, thanking us for covering her and she provided us 10 units of APM Advanced Hardware, as a token of appreciation. Additional to this, during our second talk with Anita, Zenos Cartel guarded the vicinity of Malta with several ships; the Cartel seemed to be undercover by Don’s orders, but now they are back into the open.

Buenas!

Checking the battlefields of the "Orange Hammer" in the Tau-44 system worth the time and the efforts, because I found a... cannibal. Well, it was kinda of unexpected, since the system is full of Colonials, miners, Natio and few other barbarians. The hostile capital ship (callsign:"PACALA") got removed quickly. The surviving crew members are now hostages moving to Carinea's prison station.

Checking the situation on Omicron Delta, we found an Order battlecruiser named [O]-Hermes, with a captain eager for Core blood. The captain showed a particular violent stance towards them, reflecting some grudge that I could not comprehend deeply at that moment. Moreover, the captain showed self-restrain regarding our presence in the area, only to focus in the chase against Core. Curious to know their movements, I questioned the Order’s motives to go full rampant on them, a talk that displayed their caution against infected people and their cordial opinion about Zoners. The situation did not end in this talk, though; things became fascinating when we met again in Omicron Zeta.

The battlecruiser found its presumed prey, but Core displayed little to no interest towards Hermes and its Order crew. It seemed that the Order’s zealousness against the Core was on rise, demanding the “head” of the Core vessel WV-Unity. They engaged but, in the end, the Core left the area; denying the fight to Hermes. Unbeknownst to us, things went strange when a nomad vessel with Vagrant configuration, Deiopea, arrived to contemplate the situation. Additionally, an Outcast Sarissa arrived, MNS-Pannonia, but its crew stayed calm during the encounter.

The Nomad was inquisitive about the intentions of its enemies, especially with the Order one. After the Core left the surrounding space, we established communication with the entity. Its aggressiveness towards humanity flourished during the gathering, it manifested lower predisposition to curiosity than other Nomads. Regardless of this, the alien stated information relative to the gift of power and perfection that their Masters left for the aliens; something that we humans, according to the Vagrant, stole. It was not conclusive, to say the least, but it seems clear that the Nomad revealed a particular agenda, a search that involves more than performing warmth and anger to humans.

The menacing attitude shown by the Nomad it is of troubling concern. We will have to be prepared, as Outcast society, if a second Nomad War erupts and things escalate to the point that we will be in the middle of the fire. Even if this happens, I have complete confidence that the Maltese will endure and triumph on this scenario.

The mysterious Entity has arrived, once again, near the Hispania debris field. Unfortunately, the more it appears to us, the more questions remain.

During this gathering an Outcast destroyer accompanied us, Edgar. Unlike the most of the aliens, it does not seem to be intrusive when trying to communicate with it. Its first arrival on the Hispania was a brief one, and this one was certainly no exception; but this time, the alien showed more curiosity about us. Even if it did not respond to our hails how we wanted to be, it manifested a slight interest in our speech.

The entity reminisced us the previous engagement with some nomads during a skirmish in Omicron Delta. Hostility has prevailed several times with the aliens, but this vessel in particular stayed out of the fire.

Its motives remain unclear; a watcher who approaches humans for unknown reasons, this singular one needs to be studied further. Its technology goes beyond our most advanced developments, and if the nomads engage us with several vessels like this one, we could have problems in our home. We must be prepared for the worst.

During a reconnaissance trip in Omicron Nu with Alpha Conqueror Montalban and his Reconquista, we found an exciting situation: Fleet movement from Core and Liberty near the Oregon Surveyor. When we arrived, the tension was getting higher by the minute. Core forces were not pleased by the presence of Liberty vessels in the area, but these last ones stayed, mentioning that a LNS vessel, Tallahassee, was carrying Nomad equipment. To make things worse, Auxesian ships were nearby, checking the gathering and taking advantage of it.

Core captains demonstrated their posture imposing fines to the invaders, but Liberty reacted slowly to their demands. Our arrival ignited the conflict, or at least it made the resolutions for both sides faster; the Liberty captains wanted Core to attack us, but it was a futile attempt. Ultimately, with the aggressive stance of Liberty towards our presence and the Core infuriated by libertarians’ lackluster attempt to reach unilateral consensus, hell broke loose.

The fight was fierce but our resolve and superiority was unmatched, and we prevailed. Liberty had to retreat, proving that once again the Omicrons are out of their reach. The Core and their decisive strike against our common foe speak highly of their current stance regarding us. Relations with Core should be revised further; even if our vision could collide with them in several aspects, their quarrels with Liberty could certainly benefit our own fleet movement.

MHS:

Stranded in space and waiting for Damage Control teams to fix the mess, I am reporting the dreadful situation that occurred to me and the crew of the Susurro del Vacío.

During a travel in Omicron Theta, safekeeping our frontiers, we found several ships that did not match the common configurations. One of them was the Tallahassee, one of the vessels that vacated the Nu onslaught on the previous report. Accompanying it, Jestak and Seiryuu stayed on nearby sensor range. All of them carried Nomad weaponry and quite suspicious intents that erupted after the conversation with the Tallahassee’s captain went on its climax.

His devotion to his masters revealed upon us, after showing his discomfort regarding our assistance to remove libertarians with the Core. They seemed particularly angry about the Core affairs with us. Their animosity seemed to understand no reasons, even if our motives basically focus on wreaking havoc the Houses. Core’s diplomacy has only stayed on neutral hiatus because of our common enemies; we consider their attempt to control Omicrons as a vain determination, to say the least.

The discussion reached its peak point when they manifested to necessity to put the Light on us. Moreover, a singular ship appeared on sensors, Vatan, and ambushed us, out of nowhere. Superficially, it seemed a human vessel but it was surrounded by a purple cloud, similar as the one we encountered on the Entity. Their sudden strike was too much for our dreadnought and we were severely crippled.

Whether or not their intentions tried to make a point, it is clear that if Nomads want us to subjugate to their own agenda, they are making a mistake on that. Some lackeys imposing their own views without considering our vision of the Orange Dream and going completely hostile are not quite persuasive methods for us. Even if the majority of Sirius could consider us delusional on our goals, we are a proud society and we will not back down our efforts for certain disruptions like this one.

Unfortunately, the visual footage was lost during the encounter but we managed to recover the black box, the transcription of what happened in Theta. Beware of these vessels, exercise extreme caution if you see them nearby. Knowledge is priority, but if all else fails to achieve it, eradication is the only option.
