RE: What happened to Attica? - The Milk of Kauket - 04-05-2022 That's the most attention Attica Supermax has seen since... one RP post by Chronicron in 2021, and one CNS post about a traffic accident in Colorado. Both not directly related to Attica. I like the broken asteroid, but that infocard could really have less edgy and more infocard. Pack of animals, slaughter, not very cash money to this christian vegan playerbase. Both not directly related to Attica.I want to stress again 46th has done around 20 missions to attica from Pittsburgh Under Radio silence. That's why we did it over and over again telling people not to mention it in Mds or discord - there was always someone who hasn't done it before, new guys and indies absolutely loved it. I generate activity, I bring factions to officialdom because I can generate activity - things like these are golden and are very necessary - Solars that bring activity that admins don't have to be involved in. This includes Unknown, NU Before soft retcon, Tau-61 and definitely included Attica, it was such a nice and simple straightforward run that newbies loved it it's the single most run RP mission probably I have ever done, at least repeatedly. Compare that to Amarillo Base, Drunken Codger, Thunder Bay Depot and many other bases I would be surprised if anyone even docked on in the last many months - the new base will be the same after initial activity, especially with Padua it's redundant, Attica and Belmond are still stacked in one place too RE: What happened to Attica? - Lemon - 04-05-2022 (04-05-2022, 03:39 PM)Darkstar_Spectre Wrote:It was for 46th. Our initiation RP mission so to speak. Nice try though.(04-05-2022, 03:54 AM)Relation-Ship Wrote: This was an important base for LPI, for all lawful players and most of all for in game activity. RE: What happened to Attica? - The Milk of Kauket - 04-05-2022 Not mentioning a super important base in any forum RP is a super good way to communicate to everyone how super important that base is. Don't get me wrong, I always hated it when Devs decided to force their super important changes on the toys the very important player faction leaders always claim to be their own, instead of simply not touching a running system and just taking the input of the people who actually play the game. Yet I can fully understand that Devs tinker around with stuff that doesn't seem to get used by anyone. People cry around in here about lacking communication from Devs to players, but keep in mind that the forum above all else acts as indicator of activity and quality of players and whatever they are doing ingame. Communication goes both ways. That being said, I enjoy seeing another instance of "My story is more important than the remaining integrity of the system". I wouldn't go as far as to compare Reeves with a certain person who sent dickpics around and tried to scam people for money, though. I think this uproar could have been prevented by A) Doing things step by step to have players prepare, roleplay out and simply become a part of what is supposed to happen and B) Critically asking yourself whether the planned change is really, really, really, necessary as people have proven in almost two decades of Discovery that they don't react well to CHANGES that take things away instead of CHANGES that add something. I love the idea of a solar crashing into an asteroid, or the other way around. The way it's displayed ingame is pretty dope. Sadly it's overshadowed by mimimi and poopslinging in all directions. RE: What happened to Attica? - James Greed - 04-05-2022 Attica leaving thread when RE: What happened to Attica? - Karlotta - 04-05-2022 (04-05-2022, 12:24 PM)Relation-Ship Wrote:(04-05-2022, 11:55 AM)Karlotta Wrote:(04-05-2022, 03:54 AM)Relation-Ship Wrote: The Dev behind this already has publicly stated no feedback will be listened to and this change will be kept That's kind of the underlying worst part of this. It's that the amount of effort put into the change, the predictable upsetting of people who used the base, the predictable upsetting of concerned player factions about the lack of communication, the predictable upsetting about the "I dont care if the players who play don't actually like what I do as a dev" attitude, are bad enough. But on top of it all that, which could have already been avoided with a little communication, the change was also completely unnecessary and has no pros amid all the avoidable and unavoidable cons. Change for the sake of doing anything, without discernible dev strategy to actually do something positive for the mod. And if there was one, they dont care enough about the people playing to even tell them what it might be? And it wouldn't be interesting or make the world feel like it was progressing at all if I encouraged that sort of thing. The thing is that the team - specifically Reeves - refuses to believe that any viewpoint beyond his own is either invalid, pointless, or mired in bias, which by itself is inherently biased. Everything is so much simpler for his story team if people don't agree on it, sparking conflict, and people don't see it coming, sparking outcry. Aland was destroyed with no player input. Mild outcry. Kansas was invaded and the Insurgency set on a path to deletion. The entire faction had no idea that it was the final nail; Hell, half of HC thought it was the Navy suiciding. Massive outcry. Issoudon was destroyed with no player input. Little outcry, but still a bit cringy. Attica was destroyed with no player input. Large outcry. 'Major' events in their respective regions with absolutely zero player involvement. No buildup, no planning, no contact with the active official factions as to how to go about doing these things. It's not that people don't want things to change. They just want to have a hand in conducting that change, regardless of how minor it is. Intrigue and faction-wide introspection are preferable to really big lights and a lot of noise. And again, the sad part is that none of this matters. What's done is done, and it's far easier to just keep rolling with the criticism and hate rather than admitting fault. RE: What happened to Attica? - The Milk of Kauket - 04-05-2022 Aland was definitely not a mild outcry. Aland was one of the worst community-splitting row of events before the end of the Bretonian-Gallic war. RE: What happened to Attica? - theflyingrock - 04-05-2022 Yeah Aland was one hell of a melting pot RE: What happened to Attica? - Reeves - 04-05-2022 (04-05-2022, 06:29 PM)Spectre Wrote: Reeves - refuses to believe that any viewpoint beyond his own is either invalid, pointless, or mired in bias I admit that I refuse to believe that anyone's viewpoint beyond my own is invalid, pointless or mired in bias.
