RE: Deleting systems poll UPDATE - Lemon - 03-28-2023

ROFL, they really are deleting Lorraine Xi and Munich? While leaving in systems nobody plays in? Well done boys, well done indeed.I just hope after these people that hate the players finally leave the Dev team there will still be someone willing enough to fix the damage they are doing to the mod.

RE: Deleting systems poll UPDATE - Whesto - 03-28-2023

It is easy to criticize specific "leaks" but we don't have official confirmation yet. Even if they are true and from the source, things can happen until the patch actually rolls out. I've gotten "leaks" too that I could say are valid (like the Rho deletion), but I have to wait and see.

The problem isn't necessarily the specific changes but the fact there are no communication or regards to player-base feedback. Maybe there is to some extent but it is impossible to know with no ongoing communication. But you get a picture if looking at the history leading up to this point I guess.

I no-lifed this back in the day when it was 150-200 people online, had a long break and came back not long ago relatively speaking. The decreasing player base and lack of activity was very apparent, as well as the general dissatisfaction. It was a bit sad to see, having a lot of fun and fond memories playing the mod.

If they cut systems because of a failing player base count I think that is wrong. Sure, a balance will still be needed in the amount we have. But identifying why people leave or don't stick around after joining should be a thing. Asking, polling or whatever the players what the general wishes and problems are. Communicating. Then looking at what to do and how to improve the experience.

Coming back with fresh eyes it kind of looks like the situation is in some kind of downward spiral. We also have the challenge of playing a mod for an abandonware game, but many old games have more than 30-50 players online. Why doesn't Disco have it?

I really hope it will get back on its feet, we bring on more players, new and vets and develop more quality RP. Otherwise at some point the player base won't be large enough to sustain it and we can just call it a day and move on. Perhaps someone creates a new server or we go to different games.

I'm going to see what the patch is like, maybe it will be good and improve a lot. Or it can go the other way. We'll see.

What I imagine their reasons are.
Maybe it is hope, maybe it is knowing it, usually it's just what I expect them to have thought about.

Omicron Rho: De-facto Guard system, should have had assets integrated into other systems long ago.
Omicron Epsilon: See above.
Munich: Should have been deleted patches ago, with the initial storm going across the system and rendering it inhabitable. Why it was so stalled for long is beyond me.
Okinawa: I know why and how but will refrain from spoilering. What they plan to do here is okay.
Lorraine: Famine and devastation riddled system. Lawfuls to abandon it, followed through by unlawfuls is not a far stretch tbh.
Sigma-21: Purged over no consensus how to proceed with the failed Saigon arc, I'd wager. Though it makes no sense given other changes I saw.
Omicron Nu: Purged over no consensus how to proceed with what the whack Nu arc wanted to be, lol.
Tottori: Purged over two reasons; a) Inability to conclude Tomioka arc, b) "Risk" for Miyazuki and Tomioka to inflict damage to FA and importance of Kyushu, which is nonsense tbh. Both Planets were decades away from being more than Samura experimenting around.
Tau-53: Well, that one is self-explanatory due to existing ingame material.

Xi and Virginia baffle me a bit tbh. Especially Virginia could keep on existing in similar fashion to Alaska and Thuringia without any real issues imho.

IF these rumors are true, at least I hope with Munich gone Rheinland gets something else. It's Smallest (official) house in Sirius already.

famine is a terrible reason to abandon something in a setting where you can deliver metric tons of food on a single vessel

RE: Deleting systems poll UPDATE - Swifty - 03-28-2023

"Why send the food there, when we can bring the people to the food?"

Based, unironically my favorite system at some point.

Here are my two cents. I am aware of certain leaks.
I despise every single leak I have seen from the patch.
The deletion of these systems is utterly pointless.
Don't do it.
