RE: Running into walls - pillow - 07-24-2023 i never thought i would see people dying on the "running all the way to the system wall is fine" hill but there it is RE: Running into walls - Omi - 07-24-2023 (07-24-2023, 11:39 PM)Loken Wrote: If you absolutely loathe the idea of chasing someone that far, then just don't do it. Nobody is forcing you. Not really. It's behavioural correction. It shouldn't need to happen, but clearly it does. If you let people get away with this kind of thing, it'll keep happening again and again, and it'll keep bringing up more and more bad blood. The ironic part about extending the "if you don't like it, just stop and/or go away" argument is that that's exactly what people have done with Discovery already. That's why the player count stays below ~50 outside of events. But that's okay, that's how things always go around here. My mistake was even posting on the forum in the first place, I should know better than to get involved in these dicussions after almost 15 years. Signature holds up. Saying people should be willing to die or let a blue message go instead of stubbornly pursuing it like it's the most important thing in the world is not remotely the same telling people to stop playing the game. Anyway I'm done. Go report some people or something I guess. If there was more than one worthwhile interaction going on at once these days, maybe you'd be right -- but giving up on whatever fight you're currently in basically is a 'stop playing the game' moment now. I really don't think it's a groundbreaking idea to suggest that people could police their own behaviour rather than having to be forced into doing it, but there you go. RE: Running into walls - Novascova - 07-25-2023 4 pages in 2 hours that probably is some kind of record RE: Running into walls - Peter. - 07-25-2023 Why go to such great lengths (pun intended) to simply avoid dying. How fragile of an ego do you have to attribute some abstract value to a blue message, that has to be "denied" somebody. Let me tell you, the fact that you are scurrying away is even more amusing and rewarding than any blue message could be. Also, whats this huge thread of pseudo-lawyers arguing over a trivial matter, are these really the "values" the active playerbase defends? RE: Running into walls - Xenon - 07-25-2023 Can't believe that the same people who are always complaining about how POB players are owned by their POBs and losing a lot of time working for it --- Are the same whining mouths, who are spending eternal time just chasing someone to the end walls of the system, for hundreds of k's away... Then start whining about it on forums, discord, and everywhere possible...
How the hell do you live with yourselves guys? How do you find time to run after someone to the end of nowhere? then find the time to create a drama thread of several pages about it? What a weird community here... RE: Running into walls - Oggdo Bogdo - 07-25-2023 If you want people not to do something, you put it in the rules so that they know not to do it. The admin and dev team always seems to expect people to follow rules that are not stated as if people are up to date on all the things that happen on the server on a daily basis or that they know how the game mechanics work. It's almost as if you want to ban people. I never even knew that the system wall existed or that pulses could restore energy until it happened to me when I already played for years. If you're willing to chase people to the system wall, then you should be willing to part with the time to do so. The same people who chastise PoB owners for complaining that their base; months of effort got destroyed, want to complain that they wasted 30 minutes chasing someone to the wall. Wake up to your own hypocrisy, it's repugnant. RE: Running into walls - Grumblesaur - 07-25-2023 We don't need to make a rule to dissuade people from wasting their own time. If they want to waste it chasing someone to the system wall or denying someone else a kill, that's their prerogative. It's stupid and pointless, but the harm is limited to the participants in such behavior. |
