???

There is no change in value. It's just the number is visibly smaller. Everything's value was divided by 100 (with a few exceptions pending fixes), and everyone's money was divided by 100. There is value parity.

Mining helium in Pennsilvania is gone, I don't know if it's temporary but the price is basic...

Well no, you wouldn't have, this being my second day Smile

My point re devaluation is that, of course it is the same for everyone but the main benefit is to the super rich who no longer have to bother about the 2 Bil cap per character and the change to the trading is mostly a problem for the guy starting out, like me, as it's much harder to find lucrative trade routes.
I've actually been a very happy player of this game over the past twenty years, just not here on Discovery.

It was directed at Snak3, don't you worry. And you just need to retrain your brain to see the new values. Where you previously saw 1,000,000, you should now see 10,000. There is no advantage or disavantage to any sect of the playerbase.

Yes, I have absolutely no problem understanding this, it's very simple - but you seem to have missed the points I made.
You are contradicting arguments I DIDN'T make.

An accidental strawman. My apologies.

In the meantime, despite my pleas to not merge Ageira White Boxes and EFL Blue Packs, they merged it and the trade routes are pretty much nonexistent (https://i.imgur.com/pGDCQQW.png and https://i.imgur.com/qQJQvqI.png). Absolutely disgusting suspicion that this is not a coincidence but self-serving change. And before someone goes on accusing me of something, I don't care if DM- is successful and active (that's great, activity for Disco is good), but these changes ruining trading activities for other factions is just horrible.

Ageira lost Ageira White Boxes and a bunch of trade routes.
EFL lost EFL Blue Packs and ALL trade routes.
Lane Hackers lost Counterfeit Software.
And many more that I can't even begin to list because I feel furious at people behind economy rework.

I honestly don't understand the intention of screwing up factions who used faction perks or developer requests to get their unique commodities placed for them to have some side activities to do.

/rant

So, first I wanna say that I actually agree with you about it being kinda lame that so many unique commodities got removed, this even pretty much completely killed the main roleplay behind one of my oldest characters, and that's really disappointing.

That said, I highkey doubt this was some conspiracy on @Petitioners behalf. /DM/ is barely active, and when they are, trading Light Arms hasn't been the main focus. Plus, Light Arms are most definitely not a unique commodity to them, and many different groups can trade them, so idk.

For what it's worth, I had absolutely no say in the removal of 200 commodities (yes, we used to have 288 and now we have 88), and as soon as I found out about it, I had Strong Words™ with Haste about this decision. @Karst can attest to this, as he was there on VC at the time as well. While I understand the train of thought that was behind these changes, I personally think the concept of trimming down commodities went way, way too far, and I am actively lobbying for the return of most of these commodities, based solely on design considerations, whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Furthermore, Detroit Munitions has suffered from the mass commodity removals too, although not nearly as much as other trade factions -- the merger of Side Arms (a Daumann product) into Light Arms (the Detroit product) is something that makes no sense from a lore perspective, economy perspective, or even a developer maintenance perspective.

Your insinuation that I'm behind this, with nefarious and selfish motivations, is quite uninformed; the entirety of my involvement with the economy was adding commodities to resellers, making sure that random bases sold at least something rather than nothing, that bases resold commodities they should inRP both buy and sell, et cetera. Beyond that, I provided input to the new POB crafting recipes, wrote a couple dozen infocards, and got a musician/sound designer from outside the community to graciously agree to do some atmospheric sound fx design for us. Please at least try to gather relevant information before slinging mud like this.

No worries Smile
I'm just feeling a bit grumpy because my highly successful start has come crashing to a halt.

RE: Discovery Freelancer: Fire and Fortune - Release - SnakThree - 10-07-2023

Alright
Thanks for explaining and sorry for such assumptions. Bad emotions clouded my words as this change is absolutely devastating to many trade activities.
