RE: CDI) - Recruitment for the Civil Defence Initiative - Goddess Astra - 11-22-2024

Name: Eileen Harding.
Date of Birth: 811-03-25.
Place of Birth: Planet Leeds.
Place of Residence: Planet New London.
Pilot Licence registration number: EH-153251-7
Professional Experience (if any): Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering, and a 1-year apprenticeship as a space traffic controller (level 5).
Motivation for Enlisting: Ever since my family was evacuated from Leeds, I've wanted to give back to Bretonia. I studied engineering in university, following my passion for spacecraft systems, and it was there that I discovered that I wanted to be a traffic controller. With traffic control falling under the jurisdiction of the police authority, I've decided that I want to join the Civil Defense Initiative--a group where anyone can make a difference in Bretonia, no matter their background! I want to help the working people of Bretonia and keep the trade lanes safe for them, upholding the highest possible standards for anyone traveling in or through Bretonia. I'm a certified space traffic controller, and I'm ready to do my part for Bretonia. Please pick me!

Ms Harding

Thank you for your application to the Civil Defence Initiative.

While you are correct that, ah, the Civil Defence Initiative allows anyone to make a difference regardless of their background... I... Sorry, I don't want to be presumptuous, but there are other law enforcement tracks qualified candidates might pursue in your circumstances.

Having reviewed your educational attainment, apprenticeship results and references, you would seem to be very well placed for an application into the central BPA traffic control unit stationed in New London. This is a very well regarded unit with excellent career prospects.

For the sake of my own conscience, I need to verify that you did indeed intend to set these opportunities aside and apply for enlistment in the Militia instead? To be explicitly clear, we are headquartered on Sprague, and many of your potential duties would revolve around the situation here.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mr. Hopper,

My colleagues told me the same thing that you're telling me now. New London is a prestigious post that I'm qualified for, but the trade lanes in the heartlands of Bretonia are the safest place of all for civilian pilots. It's on the border and in the periphery of her influence that Bretonia most needs competent and capable traffic controllers! A selfish focus on my own future should never come before the good of the people, and I intend to give my all where Bretonia needs me most: in the Civil Defense Initiative! I could ask for no greater honor than serving alongside the constables of Planet Sprague.

Yours sincerely,
Eileen Harding

Ms Harding

Thank you for making your aspirations clear. I have approved the first stage of your application.

The next step is to attend our headquarters at Wharferdale, Sprague for a formal interview with one of our inspectors. Following that, a flight assessment will gauge your current capabilities. There are directions at the spaceport, and on arrival at Stanbrook Hall, one of the desk sergeants will be able to provide specific instructions.

In the event that you pass assessment and induction, you will swear your attestation of office and be issued with a warrant card as a special constable. Please hold on to any travel and accomodation receipts and we'll be able to reimburse you for reasonable expenses. Congratulations, and good luck.

Yours sincerely

RE: CDI) - Recruitment for the Civil Defence Initiative - parasfarmer - 12-30-2024

Name: Matthias (Matt) Novak
Date of Birth: 814 (OOC: So he claims)
Place of Birth: Trafalgar Base
Place of Residence: Waterloo Station, Fairview Hostel
Pilot Licence registration number: JCP-899567438
Professional Experience (if any): Well, I've been flying CSV's on scrapping trips since I could reach the controls. They usually had me on look out duty, but I've gotten into a few scraps with Xenos and some others. And if that aint enough, I can tell you all about what I've heard snooping on corsairs or mollys or gaians in Trafalgar's common areas. I've got my pilot's liscense, but my other papers are currently being held against my will on Trafalgar so I don't know if you will be able to reference them. Promise I'm not tellin fibs here, I'm the real deal!
Motivation for Enlisting: Things aren't so good back home. I uh, got into a disagreement with my family, and now I can't work with them no more. That part I'd rather keep to myself. Saw you all were hiring, and I've had good run-ins with you folks before, thought it sounded like good work. I don't really have a lot of other prospects at the moment, but I do have a ship and some experience. Besides, I think I'm starting to overstate my welcome at Waterloo, and I don't need people asking too many questions. Way I see it, you give me enough credits for three hots and a cot, I'll be as loyal as you need.

RE: CDI) - Recruitment for the Civil Defence Initiative - Guthixibis - 03-01-2025

Name: (Doctor) Cecil Mintington
Date of Birth: 801 A.S.
Place of Birth: Planet Cambridge
Place of Residence: Harrison Trade Annex, Leicester Station
Pilot License registration number: 867-5309-00
Professional Experience (if any): Xenopathological Biologist [4 Years]; Pharmacological Salesman [1 Year]
Motivation for Enlisting: I was engaged in research at the University of Cambridge’s colonial medicine program. Unfortunately, my time there came to a premature end, and I have been forced to seek alternate employment. I have found that I miss the structure of one of the Crown’s organizations, and I want to use my skills in service of Bretonia as a field forensic.

As an aside, a background check into myself may find that I was accused by students of "desecrating a corpse" and "associating with poachers". These are all shameless, scurrilous accusations by Neo-Gaianist sympathizers, and I would note that the University’s investigation could not find evidence of a crime. I would also note that the University’s finding of an honor code violation is not the same as an ethical or moral one, and my mutually agreed resignation was the result of spineless administrators bending the knee to a fifth column entrenched in academic system. I am certain that the Constabulary knows exactly the type of individuals I am speaking of.

Dear Mr Novak

Thank you for your application to the Civil Defence Initiative. Having reviewed your application, we have cross referenced your pilot's licence credentials with the Pilot and Vehicle Licensing Agency. It would of course be appreciated if you could retrieve your original documents from Trafalgar.

Dr Mintington

Thank you for your application to the Civil Defence Initiative. We've reached out to Cambridge University for a reference on your previous employment, but they have refused to talk to us. A quick neural net search does show your name listed on a doctoral dissertation however, so we are taking that as a "close enough".

I have earmarked your interest in deploying to the forensics branch, which is currently... in the process of being assembled. Please note that we cannot guarantee full-time deployment on forensic duties, and the bulk of your shifts would likely relate to more mundane patrol requirements for frontline policing.

RE: CDI) - Recruitment for the Civil Defence Initiative - firesilver - 07-17-2025

Name: Oliver Stone

Date of Birth: 16.07.802 AS

Place of Birth: Housing Quarters A7, Block 12, Cambridge Research Station

Place of Residence: Crew Module 3, Kingston Border Station

Pilot Licence registration number: 01244-94894

Professional Experience (if any):

Civilian Pilots Licence
Previously employed member of the Bretonian Police Authority
Basic and Advanced Light Fighter Operation course completed
Police Interception and Weapon Handling
ISO 3103 accredited and course trainer

Motivation for Enlisting:

Because that is the least you could do for me given the way my career was put on hold. Maybe I wasn't the best officer on the force, and yes I did fail to catch that load of contraband one time as I was struggling to read whatever scribble that forged BMM cargo manifest was, but this is nothing compared to the mishandling of my employment with the BPA from years before.

It's one thing to expect me to spend hours patrolling the borders of this space to catch our enemies and criminals, but to be reprimanded and put on administrative leave for not being able to stop enemy Naval vessels passing through our space? Last time I checked that's the fuckin' Armed Forces' job! An outrageous display by the people in charge. I challenge any of the people above to sit in my Cav' and not do what I did. Yes I flew away, but that was a tactical retreat under honourable conditions and I will not stand for any claims to the contrary.

I sincerely hope the administration of today isn't as backwards as what was there before, but I expect it probably is just with a fresh coat of paint. Whatever - you need the bodies, and I'm stuck here at crummy ol' Kingston for at least the next few years. So how about you rightfully reinstate me, and maybe I'll be able to actually finish out my career this time without being canned- or, sorry, "Put on Leave" for a second time. Hell, I'll even buy the first round, eh? As long as it's not that foul slop they used to serve at Gateshead.
