Harvester Cruiser - Apex - 06-17-2009 Well, confusion sets in, figured with final release ship was de-classified and thus openly available to people Rp'ing AI based characters. As thought not many are in use I've seen a few and nothing recently applied for in the past few months, thus in my state of mind was reinforcement it was declassified and open to people Rp'ing AI characters, Harvester Cruiser - Primus Avatar - 06-17-2009 ' Wrote:The harvesters didn't put the effort into the community and server before 4.85. Wait...WHAT?? Of all the people who dislike Harvesters... Linkus... why do you have to stand out in every thread with simmilar lines? First of all... the Harvesters were the one of the top ranking factions in terms of "members currently online" in 4.84 It ceased in November (gonna double-check it) 2008 when Scornstar left. Until January~Feb 2009. when I kicked them back to life with (mostly) DOTM, Geisha and Zero755. I began this "process" slightly 3 weeks before 4.85 Yes, the Harvesters were promised exclusive rights to those ships, and I will not deny that we badly wanted to have them as they were outmost important for Harvester roleplay at that time as we utilized corsair ships back then... and worse! imports from other games just because they looked alien. Well, I'm not going to start a debate whether the Harvesters deserved them or not, just pointing out that the statement: Quote:harvesters didn't put the effort into the community and server before 4.85Is incomplete and thus misleading. The Harvesters had a great history of in-game activity since April 2008. and.... Quote:The excuse was that they were waiting for their shiney ships. This statement... i dare say... is a lie. If you can point out the thread where we said it ill apologize accordingly. The reason why most of the members went to "sleep" is because Scornstar left and told everyone its just temporary. Most of them haven't returned because they got tired of it. You know how many wanted to come back only after the new ships got released? I can think of only 3-4. The majority that came back did that before 4.85. open beta, since then the Harvesters got many many brand new members and their numbers steadily rising. Some, maybe because of the new shiny ships. Others because they felt that the Harvester faction has potential. Harvester Cruiser - Sprolf - 06-17-2009 ' Wrote:...the Harvester faction has potential. It definitely has potential. I do hope there's a resurgence in its member base, because it truly does. Harvester Cruiser - Seth Karlo - 06-18-2009 Well, my personal opinion is that nothing should be added to a community mod that can only be used by certain people. But thats just me. Harvester Cruiser - Darkard - 06-18-2009 So you dont like the control on Coalition ships Seth? Or Nomad Equipment and ships? Or even the control put in place over battleships now that official factions can control thier purchace. Harvester Cruiser - Geisha_Maiko - 06-18-2009 Quote: name='Seth Karlo' post='624745' date='Jun 17 2009, 03:41 AM'] While I agree with Jinx on the freedom of Growing Role Play ""while i support as free RP as possible - its also a bit confusing sometimes."" I could come up with lots of reasons why your story would not work: 1) The humans brain is too slow to process the interface of the computer living AI body---thus you would not be able to control the ship. 2) The ship is build on a planet that is radioactive and deadly to humans, thus logically, the AI ship would also be composed of living AI components that would be deadly if any term of time exposure is given to humans. 3) The Ai body would reject the Human component. And lastly, your story is a painted up version of "I found the ship". But I did NOT attack you or your story. What did I ask for?? A Link to show that you posted a request for Special RP character, to which, you blew up at me. Then, it turns out that you didn't go through the Special RP application process , so your basally flying a ship that is designed for AI characters, without the AI ID or going through the proper channels. If most other players had done the same thing, they would be sanctioned & fined. I am getting skype messages and pm, asking me--Whats the deal with Seth and this ship?? Is this going to be the new trend of any player can just make the 'I found it story' and fly the ships?? Is this the new way of Making a Special Request by making the ship first, playing it in game and THEN asking for the specail permission LAST ??? I asked for a link to your special RP request, not 'how well you can flip me attitude' . Lastly, go read some of my old messages before you jump on my case. Not one of them says "Geisha says Ai cruisers is for Harvesters only and noone else can have them. "" NONE. I always been a supporter of AI factions, weither they be Cyclons, Binaries, Harvesters, Terminators, Johny-Fives or whatever. I personaly think there is more than enough room in Discovery for an 'other races' besides the plain ol flesh-bags. Harvester 24 is an excellent example of an expanding-growing story line. It is a joint effort to add to the RP by H-24, the harvesters, SOB and other people. Something different and new, than the same of crud of pew-pew / your dead. Either way, get off my case. Harvester Cruiser - Linkus - 06-18-2009 Geisha: Quote:1) The humans brain is too slow to process the interface of the computer living AI body---thus you would not be able to control the ship. 2) The ship is build on a planet that is radioactive and deadly to humans, thus logically, the AI ship would also be composed of living AI components that would be deadly if any term of time exposure is given to humans. 3) The Ai body would reject the Human component. Points 1 and 3 are simply your opinion. If you can show the schematics of the AI cruiser and all the processes that are in it and then compare it to a complete map of the human brain, including the capabilities of the brain (Something we have yet to even scratch properly in general science), and then find that the human brain would not be capable of controlling such a vessel then point 1 will stand. Till then it is your opinion. Point 3. Why? Why would it reject anything? Machines and AI's can be controlled, just as any human can be too. There is no reason why the 'brain' of the AI could not be destroyed and instead a human take it's place. Of course, there could be reasons. The point is that till an official stance is given on the AI cruiser, you cannot say that it is this or that and dictate other people's roleplay. Seth has actually put effort into his character, which is a hell of a lot more than others around here, including myself in the past. Bal, I didn't mean it to insult. I know you and others did put the effort into getting the faction going again but the faction practically dropped off the map once Scornstar left. The Harvesters are the one of two factions in the mod to ever have the chance to get their own vessels solely for them. The SCRA being the other. That 3/4 month period of inactivity on the part of the Harvesters just made it look, and indeed it definitely still appears that way, that many simply decided to stop till they got their ships. A point that Admins have stated in the past. My point is pretty simple. You can run a 100metre race but if you only get to 80 and then stop for a while, does that mean you should still get a gold medal? The Harvesters disappeared at a time that at least made it look like most simply couldn't be bothered to play till 4.85. I'm not the only one who saw things this way either. The faction itself has huge potential and has a great history of roleplaying and making an effort, it just all dropped off when it was needed most and most publicly scrutinised. You and the others have done a great job of rebuilding the faction after Scorn left and I do wish you good luck in the future. I just want to see other AI's getting to have those ships who are also crucial to their RP too. I remember I flew around in the robotic looking imports when I had an AI and wished for the day to get my own. Basically, I'd like to see the Harvesters earn their ships once again but also for other independent AI folk to have their own too. Harvester Cruiser - Geisha_Maiko - 06-18-2009 You missed completely the point of my post. I COULD of stated lots of reasons why his story would not work, but i didn't. I asked for a link to his special RP request. That is it. Instead, I get a reply that seems to be hostile. By most reasoning given by Scorn, we are the most Advance machines ever....thus whatever we 'eat', we should be able to recreated---yet that reasoning has 'never flown' by Admins standards. Even when Harvesters spent time over 3 days, in New York, scanning and taking screenies, in-game roleplay of Us highjacking the plans and database to the Liberity Destroyer, the Admins still turned Scorn down on his requests for a Harvester New York based designed Destroyer. So, back to basics. The Special Role Play request forums are still down and there is no post by Seth asking for a request. It is my understanding of the rules that the RP has to be granted first, before a player can go off and get his ship. The AI cruiser is for AI players only, etc, etc, etc. I am sure that some Admin will step in and grant us their words of wisdom on this subject. Oh, btw: The reverse of your statement could be true also: Until a player can show the schematics of the AI cruiser and all the processes that are in it and then compare it to a complete map of the human brain, including the capabilities of the brain (Something we have yet to even scratch properly in general science), and then find that the human brain would be capable of controlling such a vessel then point 1 will stand. That is the thing about Role Play. Give an argument enough bullsh**, you can make a pig fly. Harvester Cruiser - Linkus - 06-18-2009 The rules have been tightened a lot more recently since the beta opened up but the special RP requests were closed. So there was no outlet for any out of the ordinary things, which nearly everyone has at least one of. Seth should go through the proper channels but as you said, the forums are officially closed and he couldn't just wait for over a year. (Yet the AFA request went through) I doubt the Admins, or most of the community, would like to see the Harvesters in every ship known in Sirius. It's a simple matter of, why can they do it and I can't? It has the potential to open a can of worms and even though it does make sense in roleplay and really would probably help the server in the end, it has issues. The AI Cruiser is an AI cruiser. It isn't a Harvester cruiser. Therefore Seth's story can work easily. The AI may not be anything to do with the Harvesters after all. In the end up. Special RP requests officially closed. Rules tightened during this. RP requests may not be open till the end of the year (with the gallic core system release) Only way of doing things is through Admins, like it use to be done. That's how things happened this way. Harvester Cruiser - Geisha_Maiko - 06-18-2009 So, the justification is that: If the offical process is not open, then players are free to haul off and do what they want? |
