(lol) Light Fighters - Biohazard2974 - 03-09-2007 why do i bother......i'm not talking about RPing.....i'm talking about the numbers. 2 equally skilled pilots. One in a VHF, other in a No Fighter.....the VHF has NO chance at all, other than to run away. No Fighter vs. Slipstream or Scimitar...close fight, but my $$ would be on the No Fighter from its enormous amounts of SB/NB, 14800 armor, and Class 10 Shields. Heavy fighters can't get behind it either. Only thing that can take out a No Fighter is a gunboat or larger with full spread turrets. You say it can only have 3 nomad energy blasters...that's 2300 D/S each, so 6900 total to hull and about 3450 to shields. Considering you can constantly stay on your target with the immense maneuverability, it will take about 9 seconds to drain a nephthsys with class 10 shields and all its shield batteries. And lets assume that this same ship also has the armor mk VIII, so it's armor is multiplied by 2.7. It will take about 11 seconds to rip apart his max armor and all his nano bots. So we have 20 seconds best estimated time. Considering that the strongest heavy fighter in the game can't even bring it's guns to bear before the no fighter gets behind it, yeah i'd say the no fighter needs some tweaking yet. another thing.....why do nomads have use for HUMAN SHIELDS. If they have no use for a shieldbuster than i can't see why they would just use their nomad armor (maybe increase it for lack of shields). Dab your argument falls to pieces...... Light Fighters - Dab - 03-09-2007 My argument falls to pieces? I don't think so. Let me point out that Salamancas, class NINES do about 2000 dps. Level 10s like the Solaris, and codenames do MORE than 2300 dps. Much more. And they have FOUR class 10s, and TWO class 9s, Twice the guns, with more damage on each. True, you can't get behind the No Fighter in a VHF. You can get behind the Scimitar either, or the Wyrm. Or the Phantom. They aren't supposed to! Thats the purpose of a light fighter! They are SUPPOSED to be superior to VHFs in dogfights, while weaker against capships. Thats their purpose in this game. The VHF has to engine kill to shoot LFs, no matter what LF your flying. The No Fighter is no different from the other LFs, except less weaponry and more armor. Its no different from fighting a Wyrm. Can't get behind that either. It can sit on your butt if you don't engine kill. Same for No Fighter. The NFighter is just like every other LF, the only difference is less firepower, more armor. Also, your calculations on timing aren't wholly accurate. You don't get full hits when your behind a VHF in an LF. Unless your opponent sits still or flies in a straight line. If they do that, ANY LF will kill it in 20 seconds. When you fight a VHF in an LF, that VHF is going to dodge. You might have heard something about it, its what everyone does to keep themselves alive. Your going to get approximately 4-5 shots in at a time. Its difficult to get the shield down, then hit hull before it comes back up. And your lasers might not all hit. You may hit them with only one or two of those three. You need to correct yourself. It takes 20 seconds to kill a VHF that sits there. It takes 50 times that to kill a moving one. I wasn't refering to your logical arguments that fell to pieces, i was refering to the whole nomad's can't use human weps due to RPing, but they can use disrupters and shields.....yes i know it's easy to dodge weps, its not like i'm a gaming nooblet. I've been fragging fighters since After Burner in '88. Now back to the No Fighter: It just annoys me that you have a small profile, agile fighter that's able to mount class 10 gear, and the fact that no other light fighter can. If the no fighter had 2 lvl 9 mounts and a 10, then i can see the class 10 shields. But that would me no weps would have to be class 9, which they're too powerful for due to their low energy use. I guess what really burns me about having a class 9 shield is the fact that it's 3000 pts lower than the class 10 AND that the no fighter has 9300 more armor than the slipstream before the armor upgrades. ....best codename i know of is the archangel, which does 1400 hull a shot. At a fire speed of 2.0, that's 2800 d/s w/ 630 energy/sec. Solaris are 294 @ 8.33 which comes to about 2450 d/s w/ 716 energy/sec nomad blasters are 575 @ 4.00 which is 2300 d/s w/ 180 energy/sec Light Fighters - Qunitinius~Verginix - 03-09-2007 I would agree with that Bio, It does kinda seam over powered in that sense. Alot of armour, class 10 guns only 1 less gun tehn a regular light fighter and a trop slot. I don't know what we can to do make it mroe balanced though..... Verginix Out Light Fighters - McNeo - 03-09-2007 Take away the sheild (or make it somthing for protecting against bumps like lvl 5-6) and put the armour to about 18000. Alternatively, downgrade the sheild to a HF lvl 9 and give it a tad more armour. Or, downgrade the maneuverability a bit....but im not in favour of this. Id really appreciate that. on topic: 3 class 10 weapons are accually good for an LF, though almost all LFs have low firepower for their class. The nomad fighters should maybe be lowered to 13000 armor, and decreasing the nanos and batts supply. Then give it a class 9 HF shield. Light Fighters - Nightfall - 03-18-2007 Ah well, met one nommie fighter last night, it flew circles around my Ravenclaw, only thing that saved me was the razor-thin profile of the Raven and the fact he had only 3 guns ain't making it weaker. Unfortunately I was too busy dodging so I didn't scan the thing but it was dealing pretty decent amount of damage when it hit me. |
