Why everyone use Gunboats anyway, they are made to destroy lighter ships like VHFs and Bombers. Bombers are made to destroy big things.

And Barghest is simply overkill vs transport. At least it gets raped by good VHF pilots and Bomber pilots. And no, I do not say: Nerf da barghest. Its a specialized ship and it does well its job in its specialization, at the cost of being less better in other engagments.

Shire to, infact it owns about everything but bombers.

That said pirates need to have some respect for traders. 2 Million is fine but like hell Im gonna pay much more then that or a significant portion of my cargo. Someone tries to do that and Im going to keep track of them and completely keep away from them. A lot of the good traders/smugglers will do this, leaving one to wonder if the pirates shouldnt be a little bit more friendly if they want to keep the prey plentiful.

agreed.

It is the right way to go. However, most people seem to run away as soon as I fire a cruise disruptor on my BD, even though my rp isn't remotely hostile.

But indeed, for the record, im somewhere between options 1 and 2 for this... erm... pirate classification... thingy...

I made a toll rate once based upon the cargo load, it went something like this...

Freighters = x50
800 to 1999 = x100
2000 to 2999 = x200
3000 to 3999 = x300
More than 4000 = x400

Examples...

A Rhino (225) would pay $11,250
1,000 x 100 would equal $100,000
2,500 x 200 would equal $500,000
5,000 x 400 equals the maximum $2m.

Enemies and high-value loads might incur extra. Cretins usually wind up dead.

I kinda take enough cargo, but enough for them to make bigger profit than I do. 1500 of 5000 engine components cripples the trader, but it gives him around 4mil profit.

3600 cargo, i take only about 1000. Something like that. they usually dont hang around 3.5k cargo ships what would mean they get enough for a bigger one soon...

Shires i just stay clear from. Also, traders in groups seem to be a problem unless I have a friend. Its really not like I can defeat two traders.

Then there's the next level.

The Sadistic Serial BlackBearded Wedgieman - He enjoys your pain. He lets you live only so that you can come back trading. He strips your hull, your equipment, takes your money and cargo. And just for the hell of it, makes you watch as he wedgies your ship. You have to pay the repair costs, as well as paying the pirate.
