This Weeks Hypothetical Scenario - Fletcher - 08-26-2009 In RP I expect there to be some sort of limit on what how much is bought and sold for within a set of parameters, never passes them. I do not expect there to be a real time calculator of prices, only like once a week or every two weeks when the server resets. This Weeks Hypothetical Scenario - Agran Harper - 08-26-2009 I agree with the limit, and I agree with a slow and not exaggerating way of the price raising or falling. Mining would not die, for the exact reasons Darkard pointed out. People forget, that the proposition of this change was a) not meant to be instant and b) shifting slowly. And I second this, because it takes away stress, allows for overview and an easier implementation. That, and because that a single player should not be able to drive the commodity prices into insane heights and depths with so much NPCs around. Quote:I wasent Suggesting that it calculates depending on the current prices in other bases.Ah, okay. So it would be like "Dudes, this base here is rather unprofitable... besides its full... lets move to the next base." I agree with that approach, wholeheartedly. Quote:Regarding the "We are Full.. come back later" This will lead to people buying 5k of Copper and then getting to the sell point and not being able to sell it.Well, 5K of copper is not really much though! If we take what the Transports/Trains can take into their hold, and then if we compare that to some of the stationary storages as well as the storage bins attached to the station, there would be a considerably high amount of threshold. Well, "high" would need to be determinated to see where one could draw the line. Yet, as you stated, mining is rather a group effort. And if one station is full (which should take a "while") then it could be moved to the next one, as part of a group effort, and it also takes a "while" until the next station is full. Mind you, I have not the foggiest how much units are moved by miners on an average day. So numbers would be highly appreciated:)Also, if somebody buys from the full stockpile of the station, there would be buffer gained which could then be filled. That is something we need to carefully think about in general; flooding a station so the prices decrease, would make for more margins if one takes the full loads and sells them anywhere else where the margins are higher *hmmmmmm* The current loads of stocks could perhap also be displayed in this seperate news section, but I guess its too much of a hassle to implement anyways. Besides; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qENJaWkKSbc So it seems its doable, at least for the minor weekly / several-dayish purpose. Yet the outcome on a live server of that magnitude would need to be determined in terms of latency. |
