What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Quorg - 09-29-2009 ' Wrote:A clear and meaningful goal(s). But that's the Holy Grail of trading factions and I think nobody really has found it yet. And by goal I mean more than grinding money for your other chars. I think trader factions should have a sense of going forward towards that goal, a sense of purpose. A story arc of some kind. A pity factions can not change in Disco that easily. I believe it's doable but you really have to butt some heads to have it done. We at Ageira don't have any competition in the Gate/Lane Parts market (other than in Gallia, but that's a different story). We have market dominance in that area and are also seeking monopolies (or larger market shares) in the Light Arms, Superconductors, and other markets. Ageira does have a stated goal - to manufacture and ensure the delivery of its Gate/Lane Parts to each construction zone until each project is finished and to return a profit to its shareholders. However, Ageira also depends heavily on the profits from delivering those parts to each construction site. Once construction is finished, yes, a new one will open, but at the cost of having to alter our trade runs. So in secret, we really don't mind delays and attacks on the sites so long as the companies that are responsible for the building (DSE, BMM, etc.) continue to have enough money to pay for more Gate/Lane Parts to replace the ones destroyed by our "enemies". ' Wrote:No need to reward the faction corporation traders. We already have placed a bounty on any and all non-Ageira traders who are shipping anything that Ageira produces. Also, the Slavers' Union makes it a point to harass and pirate non-Unionized Slavers. We furthermore have plans to regulate and derive profit from the distribution of the Havoc MKII Bomber. And to address some other posts, we already have a fleet of nine trains, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt for me to sell my Mastodon to the company for use as a shared ship as well. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Exsiled_one - 09-29-2009 nice things! nice things indeed. do you have a weekly or monthly deposits you have to make, or is it all coming out of your pocket? Officially, we have monthly deposits from shipping pilots, but so far only one pilot and myself have contributed. We're working on it, though. It's hard to strike a balance between getting enough funds to have credits to spend as a faction and not wanting to scare away new recruits. One way we've tried to get around this is by waiving the faction contribution for the first month. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Exsiled_one - 09-29-2009 well the point is that everyone should deposit so you can get the transport ships or hire escorts for others later. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Canadianguy - 09-29-2009 Main reason is actually RP. Convoys is also an other good one. Bowex is well known for killing pirates with their Shire convoys. I have to say when I will have enough money for a shire, I will probably get myself in Bowex. And BTW, I am in a corporate faction ATM. I am with RepEx. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Exsiled_one - 09-30-2009 Hopefully some things will be set in motion soon here and we will benefit for more corporation traders in Kusari space. Since Ageira is made, I would encourage you guys to see what can be done with the foreign trade in kusari and the entire situation out there. Some good ideas have been placed and some good things have been set in motion. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 09-30-2009 Sadly, nothing attracts me to them. It would be fun being one theoretically, thats about it. Theoretically. If there were routes that could match the regular money making smuggling/zoner routes. (For example, Slaves-Cardi makes ~23,000,000 both ways together) It would be fun RPing as a single faction, DSE, Aigeria, Republican, and BMM would all be interesting. However, its the problem of many, many pirates and the ineffetivity of escorts that are not gunboats, let alone profit and trade limits that turn me off for it. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Benjamin - 09-30-2009 yeah the zoners/smugglers in this thread have identified the fact that jumphole trading makes way more money, is much safer, and requires less effort (both mental/roleplay and physical clicking/checking/running from pirates). While that continues to be the case, corps will continue to be a niche thing. But I don't know, maybe it's because I only recently became a corp faction leader so I just wasn't aware of how it was before, but now at least, it seems like people are making noises about it. Like Eyvind said, we're banding together in our secret skype halls and such and looking for ways to increase our power/activity/fun/money/all that. As for whoever said corps don't run houses, I guess you're basing this off a handful of Disco changes, rather than the whole vanilla history, which is very much driven by corporations. It was either Daumann or Republican (can't remember) which started the whole Nomad war, even. The entirety of Leeds system was handed over to corporations to run as they saw fit, and that's basically how it's stayed. Obviously the current war changes that, and Bretonia's government was starting to impose health and safety laws and such in the recent past, but it was basically a big corporate playground. Doesn't even have any pirate bases, for example. And there's however many more arguments. Vanilla has what, 24 planets? With like, 9 entirely under the control of corporations, 3 being weirdo planets in corporation-less space (toledo malta and crete) and a bunch of the other police-tagged planets being massively under the control of corporations, like Leeds, Honshu, Stuttgart. Blah blah. Made this argument a million times. OPG Ivan, for a fruity dude, has some good ideas here, at least in my book. I just don't know how implementable it all is. The hamstrung IDs shut us out from a lot of in-game play, and the current attitude towards governments (i.e. king of army = king of house or close enough) shuts us out of a lot of forum play. But this is the sort of situation I'd like to see. House governments acting like they need corporations and trade. Which, you know, obviously, they do. Like someone said, Rheinland isn't living off Liberty Navy money, it's living off Liberty corporation money. And why is it in that situation? It was forced in to a war by one of its own powerful corporations. What would attract you to a corporate faction? - Magoo! - 09-30-2009 Quote:-the chance of escorts?Em... None of the above. I usually join for one of two reasons. 1: Its not taking off, so I decide I might give it a kick start. 2: It looks like a cool idea. I generally only stay if, I click with the people in it. I don't want to spend endless hours awkwardly spouting off RP small talk. "So how's Leeds going for you...?" "Good." "Cool..." "What about you?" "Oh, you know, I earn my keep..." "Awesome..." "Oh look, a Kusari ship!" You can say what you want about roleplay server and all that, but at the end of the day, most of my activity is spent in game with people I get on with. Doubly important for corps though I suppose, since we can't do the peeveepee so good edit: to your edit: A BLOO BLOO BLOO |
