Is Sirius in a recession? - Tomtomrawr - 10-01-2009 Well, I haven't traded in more than a month, so my only source of income at the moment is selling ships. I'm not selling many ships at the moment, so not making much money. And I'm making new characters regularly, so maybe 40 million every month. But I voted for under 50 million a week. Edit: The only reason I don't trade is because I have 400 million on my trader, plenty to fund new characters. And because I'm busy playing Fallout 3, so no time to trade. If your spending more than your earning, your losing money. If your losing money, your in a recession. Is Sirius in a recession? - Ash - 10-01-2009 I rerely earn more than 100 million xP Even with my three trading chars, whenever i'm half way through saving up for a cap i get sidetracked and make three small characters from factions i've already joined three times. Is Sirius in a recession? - Barrier - 10-01-2009 Since I despise powertrading, I earn less than 10 mil (doing missions) I don't spend a lot either, since I'm saving for an Eagle. Is Sirius in a recession? - Agmen of Eladesor - 10-01-2009 I guess it depends on the characters. My BHG| characters as a group tend to operate on a break even mode - they make just enough between all of themselves on missions and with cargo to pay for bots, bats, and ammo. I like to get onto my Freelancer once a week and go on a cargo run, since he's now got a BWT. Go fly around for half an hour with him, and he makes 15 million or so. My actual company trader I'll fly a couple of hours a week, make 50 million, and that's enough. (I have a few hundred million in bank accounts.) Not sure if I go over 50m though. Also, I ain't spending that much , so less than 10m. Also I have nearly 200m sitting on my main character I am rich ? Huzzah! Is Sirius in a recession? - Corsair - 10-01-2009 I trade when I need a final push to a goal, other than that, my Lux Liner sits neglected. Is Sirius in a recession? - pbrione - 10-01-2009 Actually, interestingly when people are spending more than they earn, its generally an indicator of economic growth (people borrow money during growth times, cut back during recession) - hence in this case its probably an indication that Sirius is NOT in a recession. Recession means 2 or more consecutive quaters of declining output (i.e. negative growth) which is not the same thing as spending more than you earn at all (that's just debt. Or a budget deficit). So, whilst I applaud your methods, you should reverse your conclusion - this healthy consumer spending means we're in a boom time! The recession will come when, eventually, the people spending more than they earn run out of money, IND will start losing their vast credit reserves by giving dodgy loans to everyone, plunging us into a financial crisis in which people stop spending things altogether. Unless, of course, you are examining the npc economy which is the inverse of ours, in which case us earning less than we spend means the npcs must be doing the opposite. Or possibly not. Economics is complicated stuff. Don't jump to conclusions. /endeconomicsspiel |
