I have but two things to say on this subject.
#1: This might actually allow us some DDoS protection.
#2: This will help my own personal conscience.

Don't understand the reasoning behind #2?

You must enjoy mooching then.:P

Sounds like a really awesome idea, actually. I'm all for it.

' Wrote:It's worth a try, but from previous experience google is very strict on users asking visitors to click on their ads. If google finds out, the adsense account could be suspended. I think general ads around the site are better. They don't have to be banner ads, or picture ads, they could be simple text ads incorporated within the forum layout. I've seen many forums do that without compromising the usability of the forum.

The ads that take keywords and link it to Amazon, or somesuch site? Those are an option, though slightly more annoying than, say, the proposed style. Should not be ruled out, however.

For those who are concerned that unwanted ads will appear, that's actually quite unlikely to happen. If you use google adsense, it will only show you ads that are relevant to the website. So you'll most likely find other gaming ads. One possible ad location would be the top right hand corner of the forum.

Edit: Nevermind. As long as it'll be just a thread I don't mind. Just keep this place free from annoying banner ads please.

I am against bannar ads, but its good you re-read my suggestion. I will always be, and I tihnk the admin staff will be against banner ads.

This method if possible is totally optional.

Not a terrible idea. (not an official position).

I know that the ad providers frown on site owners telling their visitors to visit the ad sponsors. With no intention of visiting the sites it's paramount to fraud, and they don't like that.

Hmm, what if we do what this site does to a much less degree:
http://www.points2shop.com/

This site is basically, enter details, do surveys and we give you 'points'. Points = stuff bought at Amazon.

Now taking a page from that site's book, what if we set up some sort of daily survey scheme with some survey sites. We take the survey a day, and some money is donated. Not only are we fulfilling our end of the bargain, it helps the server. Sadly, I guess its time consuming. But hey, we're here right?

Link to Points2Shop Daily Survey page

I didn't think of a fraud thing... I'm no expert or anything on this field. But I can assume that us doing surveys for cash is legit right?

EDIT: I am not trying to spread the word of the above site, but its the only live example I have.

Are you sure it isn't just another one of those get rich quick online scams?

Click-a-Day ads and Discovery - Leo - 11-19-2009

I'm pretty sure the Admins have it covered with the donations. I like the fact that there aren't any ads on this forum, and in adding those in, it'll only add to the bandwidth problem that we have when too many people are on the forums and it kicks us off due to "too many connections". Google ads also don't always link you to the most pleasant places on the web, and aren't always the most child friendly either.

Voted no. Would vote "hell no", but couldn't find the option.
