Most "powerful" house (within RP) - reavengitair - 12-29-2009 Quote:Dude what about Galia? Quote:That's the entire point. Quote:Is there any real point in this thread? It's turned immediately into a popularity contest where people haven't done their homework before posting. Though I must say that claiming that Rheinland is the strongest House is particularly nonsensical, since they lost a war to the GMG, and either before or after the Nomad war (can't remember which) the only battleship they had in commission was the Westfalen (I think) and its fusion reactors and engines were broken. Well it could help to balance the houses a little? Either way, those who do have homework behind them can have a nice discussion... Most "powerful" house (within RP) - Montezuma/Kukulcan - 12-29-2009 Not so, if any house managed to get a BS out to Crete or Malta, they would be met with multiple BSs, the Corsairs for example have 3 dockable Osirises, and many more active (go fly 'round Eta when there is 50 people online), plus with the newly introduced Legates, and 3 large shipyards, in RP, they would have a defensive fleet easily capable of crushing any proper attack on Crete. The OC have fewer ships, and less pilots, but their skill when high is unmatched (in RP), easily greater than any non-drugged-up house ace, and with combined fleets they would be more numerous, and more skilled in combat than any house (except Gallia). And dont say 'oh but Liberty invented the engine!' because that is total rubbish, look at the news on Malta for example, and the infocard for the storta, the OC engineers are far beyond that of any in Liberty, plus, the Corsairs have theirs designed by the Order (read the Legate infocard, most of the power systems and engines were Order designed). As for population and numbers, with the large manufacturing complex that the Corsairs have combined with a hugely overpopulated planet that wouldnt hurt to loose a few million to end food shortages, they would swarm any invasion with extremely superior numbers and ship technology, while the OC have even better yet tech, and some of the most skilled pilots around, combined, they would be incredibly powerful. Edit: Also, one thing i think everyone seems to be forgetting is that yes, Liberty may have incredible financial power, but they lack the raw materials to build their ships, Bretonia and Rheinland both have vast ammounts of raw ores, and while they may not have such financial power, should Liberty go to war, or break trade with both of them, They would be in severe trouble. As Bretonia might not have fleets as large as Liberty, but they do have the raw materials and industrial power (centered around Leeds) to produce legions of new ships while Liberty would run out of resources completely, and not even be able to repair their current fleets. Most "powerful" house (within RP) - McNeo - 12-29-2009 The rumour that Liberty has enough firepower to take on two houses and win is based upon the fact that there is an ingame (vanilla) rumour that the Liberty Navy recieves funding for the scenario that it does find itself fighting two of the other houses at the same time. I'd also like to take this time to say that the reason you saw Rheinland battlegroups going around in Rheinland is because, if you read the progressive news articles during the singleplayer missions, you find that Rheinland called up all its reserves and was running at a pace so fast that it would run out of resources in only a few months. Liberty, on the other hand, can probably sustain that pace indefinately. About this business of who started the Rheinland-Liberty war. InRP, Rheinland can't prove that they didn't start it whereas Liberty can prove that they did. Out of RP, the story is slightly different. But I dislike how people say YOU STARTED IT when it's plainly more complicated than that, and also that no one would believe Rheinland when it said that its evidence is conveniently not there. Sure, maybe Rheinland citizens would, but I do believe that in legal terms, evidence is worth more than bias testimony. EDIT: This business about combined hispania having any sort of chance in an offensive war is bollocks. Sure, on the defensive, both the Corsairs and the Outcasts would probably be able to repel all but the most committed of attackers, but neither side is experienced in fighting pitched battles or offensive wars. Both only fight guerilla wars, and cannot hope to take large swathes of territory from the houses if the houses were as prepared as the hispanics are for a defensive war. The only reason the Corsairs are making real gains in Bretonia is because Kusari is the far bigger threat, even after such a grinding war. EDIT2: Sprolf, I said real gains, not great gains. This means gains that they can hold on to. A great gain would be the change of rule of a planet or station from Bretonian to Corsair, which hasn't happened. Most "powerful" house (within RP) - Exsiled_one - 12-29-2009 here's my +1 Most "powerful" house (within RP) - Sprolf - 12-29-2009 I would have to agree with you on that one, Ivan. Actually, most posts within this topic are a +2. Take that was you would. +1 EDIT: Oh, and Neo... the Corsairs aren't making great gains within Bretonia. So this would all add up to... +2 now. +2 Most "powerful" house (within RP) - Panzer - 12-29-2009 Ah sez Colonial House is tt3h WIN! Most "powerful" house (within RP) - Cyberanson - 12-29-2009 ' Wrote:Rheinland is indeed a war-factory at the moment, however if you read up, you'd see why they can't match Liberty.Where, mate? There is nothing in the Wiki, which would justify the statement, that Liberty is superiour to others these days. Maybe when looking at the finances, but hey... finances are nothing, compared to convinced people. I would be pleased about every link, which leads me on my way to more knowledge. Most "powerful" house (within RP) - Akura - 12-29-2009 ' Wrote:Combined Hispania is a epic win... Other way round. Outcasts have the slightly advanced tech, and the Corsairs have the best pilots in Sirius. Most "powerful" house (within RP) - kuth - 12-29-2009 +1 Liberty or Gallia would get my vote if I felt inclined to vote. Rhienland may have had the best navy at one time but they don't anymore and they also don't have the best tactics as others have said. They lost a war to the GMG, this proves their tactics are horribad. Bretonia is well Bretonia. Wish it would get some love. Corsairs/Outcasts - They are indeed powerful, but I doubt they would be able to set aside their differences to be a force to reckon with. Most "powerful" house (within RP) - Marcus Lindberg - 12-29-2009 You know one of the things I'm worried about is that a lot of people are mentioning stuff like experience, loyalty, firepower, tactics... But no one has thought of Logistics. Logistics is key to war, sure you may have the biggest baddest ship with the baddest looking guns and the almost unbelievably imposible high turn rate for a ship that size, But what if its power core runs out of energy? Or becomes to old and needs replacing? What if it needs new or more missiles? What if the crew have no food? What if you supply lines are stretched too long and your defense stretched too thin? That being said, is actually one of the reasons Germany could'nt invade Russia, even if they weren't at war with the West. Sure they would've gotten most of Russia, but the Russians managed to, literally, move their factories towards the East in the Ural mountains, 6 weeks ahead of schedule. This, by the way, comes from Stalingrad, written by Anthony Beever, an expert on the Eastern Front in World War 2. (I think I might've selled his name wrong). Now I know some of you may play the 'oh, earth isn't sirius' and what not, but Logistics is still required in RP. The Gallians would never, at their current state be able to reach Hispania even if they conquered the other houses, because their supply lines would be stretched too thin, and we all know pirates knows the jumpholes and use guerilla tactics. The Gallians would literally have to develop atleast Rheinland so that they can begin creating their supplies there and support the war effort from there on, which would take at least 25 years considering they'd have to deal with the Nationalist Rheinlanders as well, who will most likely create an insurgency of their own. |
