Kane,Nov 16 2005, 10:46 PM Wrote:To Venom: Your missing the point, dude. Your hated because you were a jerk. You lied, cheated, and hurled curses and promises of war left and right like confetti. And every time you got your sorry butt blasted into submission. You made promises that you would do better, even asked if you could be in the clan that defeated you. These were all empty, hollow, soul-less shells that held no real meaning to you. Sure enough, not long after you made a "truce" and "was trying to do better" and even "joined the winning side", you went right back to being a jerk.

There are only so many second-chanses you can be given, Venom my friend, and I fear you are running out at a rapid pace if not already. If you don't want to be hated, stop acting like your the best person out there and because of that we should bow down to you. Realise that you've made mistakes, and the only way to not be hated by everyone is to change your ways. Be nice to people; understand they won't trust you right away because of what you did; and most of all, don't give up trying. If you stick to one of your promises to become a nicer, better person, then sooner or latter you won't be hated by eveyone.

Now, by the same token, everyone else has to at least give him one more chance to change. If he dosn't, he'll have to find a group elsewhere. Possibly still on the server, but away from the people that hate him.

One more thing: The clan thing is a Role Play eliment. The RM is, in essence, the Rhinland Military. In Rhinland, their word is law. The LS are the Liberty Navy, or Liberty Security Force. In Liberty, their word is law. The SDF own Britonia, and the IG own Kusari. None of this is built into the game; it's a user created thing that allows the players to do more than trade or fight NPCs/other PCs. They bring a chance to pull on the mantle of a role in the Freelancer universe, and not that of a person at a computer.
For me, when I come on as Kreig, I am not me sitting at my computer, I am Fleet Admeral Kreig of the Rhinland Military, commander of the Frankfurt Battlegroup and capitan of the RNC Kreig. In my Battleship, I enforce the laws of Rhinland and keep the pirates away from traders.
As DarkStar, I am a ruthless pirate king, wanting nothing more than to show the rest of the universe that these "Lowly pirates" are more than just annoyances to be ignored. Divided we are dangerous; United we are unstoppable!

So you see, factions are claims to power. They are not weapons to be used at a whim. They are not places to gather and say "Let pwn some n00bs!" They are ways to play a role, as a character in a play, not a person sitting at a computer desk.

I couldnt agree more with you kane!

And to you, Venom: People on this server are the most comprehensive and tolerant gamers i've ever seen before. They are quite mature. Not the usual young gamer who only wants to pwn everything they came across, and laugh of the n00b.

They have given you a lot of chances to improve. I've been on other gaming communities, if someone had behaved like you, they would had banned him on sight. Even by less than you have done. :rtfm:

Just think. The opportunity they gave you is.... almost unique. So, dont let it pass....
Believe me. I used to behave like a jerk 10-12 years ago, and it is not good to be hated by everybody....

Think about it.

Hmm... Yeah, that IS kind of a long post. I mean every word of it though; don't think anything else.

Are you saying im hated too? I act like I'm the best fighter pilot on the server (even though that could be quite likely) and I have no modesty.

second thoughts - Constantine - 11-17-2005

Don't be to over confident Dab...

It could lead to your downfall :)

second thoughts - Dab - 11-17-2005

I'm sorry i guess when i tok down your level 9 light fighter with me Very Heavy Fighter :haha: :yahoo: :yahoo:, it made me even more confidant.

second thoughts - Constantine - 11-17-2005

A light fighter vs a Very Heavy Fighter isn't much of a fight "It's an extermination" - Mad Person - War of the Worlds

second thoughts - Met2085 - 11-17-2005

true, even if someone was in a lvl 9 light fighter, they are still at a disadvantage when fighting a very heavy fighter. so even if dab was in the light fighter, he still would probably have died at the hands of a very heavy fighter...

second thoughts - Constantine - 11-17-2005

I was in the light fighter.

second thoughts - Met2085 - 11-17-2005

i no but i was just making a point ;)
