Powerpirating? - casero - 01-01-2010 Giving it a name would only bring threads like "I hate power pirates" and more and mroe rant. Pirates using lanes? Sure, why not? Lawfuls use jump holes too right? Also, the "Y" gives a lot of advantage for both sides (on purpose or not), so using lanes to balance it, isn't that bad. For me. Powerpirating? - Mordrom - 01-01-2010 120 million in 70 minutes. I gotta say that's impressive. The only claim to fame I have is a fraction of that without having to even power up my guns. I was actually very proud of that. But things have changed so I suppose that won't happen again, any time soon. 120 mils... with decent rp to boot. My hat is off to you, Sir. I'm very impressed. And into rp ones. Charged price is from 500k up to 3 000 000 unless ore or nuclears. Still no luck with such amounts of cash. Well, as said, I guess it was more of a great portion of luck on my side to run into that many silent NRP-Traders and miners hauling ore not willing to cooperate. I need more haulers on my side though, blowing people up leaves all their shiny stuff in space I cant transform into money. --- Oh, and btw. why again you needed to dispand the OPG at the moment when I had decided to join up? I had my 'Sair ready and setted, just to read the next day on the forums that you people dropped your tag. Powerpirating? - Boss - 01-02-2010 I've started NPC-pirating on the server when it's below 120 players. You can make some good money in Texas collecting H-Fuel by the Hudson JG to run to Beaumont. It is not advisable to do this in lightly armored ships, as there are frequent cruiser patrols. Powerpirating? - Divine - 01-02-2010 NPC-pirating is actually a neat idea. I heard once from Sindroms what incredible amounts of cash you can make in just some hours. I should try that. Thanks for reminding me. Powerpirating? - ed_philips38 - 01-02-2010 I never said you couldn't use them, what I said was, why would a naval owned trade lane / jump gate, allow you to do so when you're meant to be hostile to lawfuls. As for trade lanes themselves, NPCs disrupt lanes based on the hacker technology because I've never see a Liberty Rogue, lane Hacker, Corsair, Outcast, Red Hessian, LWB, Unioner, Molly, Gaian or Bundschuh NPC use those lanes, nor would they get through a jump gate. Kusari is different due to it's political infrastructure, thus Hogosha and Farmer's Alliance NPCs have used. On the subject of Jump Holes, traders shouldn't really use them as it would be against corporate policy with the exception of the Coronado JH, Minnesota and other new systems that have no gates. On another note, traders using jump holes are more likely to be pirated by their own captains, as was the case of the Vanilla pilot Trent was escorting. I know of one pirate that is always, or mostly, stationed at an NPC disruption point in Colorado, likewise in Galileo at Reppu Bend. but you yourself said, "I am not hugging one spot all the time, well, I dont hug one spot at all. Iam flying around in my ZOI and just halt every trader that crosses my path" yet after my reply you said "You want all the pirates to fly all the ways through open space, so you traders can easily use the lanes to your own pleasure, forcing us pirates to camp single spots, which I already said I dont do? You can hack those lanes, you know? I know people that are doing that, me nowadays included." So in one post you do the very thing you say pirates shouldn't have to do in a later post, and that is you fly around your ZOI. And just for clarification, I'm no longer trading or mining. Powerpirating? - tansytansey - 01-02-2010 The terms 'power trading' and now 'power mining' come from the old mmo term 'power leveling' which is when you go out an grind for long periods in the quickest way possible, or alternatively are 'power leveled' by a higher-level character. The aim is to skip through the early-game content and get to the end-game content as quick as possible. In Discovery this would be applicable to trading and mining, as players are often only interested in getting past the early-game and getting their desired ships. However, being a pirate would be considered end-game in mmo terms. Powerpirating? - Divine - 01-02-2010 ' Wrote:...Eh yes... what? I said that Iam flying around in my ZOI using also the lanes. And then asked you if you want us pirates to be forced to camp one spot, as we shouldnt use according to you the lanes and just fly through open space. Where Iam talking contrary stuff here again, because I actually cant see it? Powerpirating? - Kyte_ - 01-03-2010 COM ID: Oops.did.it.again Gosh, I want in on this fellas...
