All this would do is make corporations, mercenaries and independent pirates even more handicapped. Codenames are fine as they are, leave them be.

Keep it like it is.
They are great because they allow you to compensate for deficiensies for certain faction guns, so give you more freedom in your correctly IRP setup.
You want them to be changed so certain people can be more "special" and so the server "elite" will stick out more and you call other people "l33t noobs?". Uhm... detect a certian amount of hypocricy in that?.
Apart from that, they arent so much better than faction guns anymore. Plus they are overpriced anyway.
I'd rather take them out entirely before restraining them more for those who think the elite is better than the l33t.

I don't use them and don't see a need. They don't bother me.
Do they really bother you that much? If so then you need to turn your PC off and go relax. This. Is. A. Game.
If you don't like them ignore them.

It's been said, sure... but CODENAMES don't make you good. In fact, sometimes they give you a false sense of superiority, I think.
Nothing better than downing a CODENAMEing VHF pilot in my Roc... again:D

People only want them because they can't buy them on stations or planets. But now they lose their rarity since most VHFs will undoubtly mount at least one.
My solution? Buff faction guns. (flame this)
