Kind of a n00b question, but...

How do I connect to an IP address? All i've ever done so far is to use the GUI built into Freelancer, but just in case I want to know how to connect to an IP address with Freelancer.

Look in this thread:
http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=
or in mod readme.

You need to change options of Freelancer shortcut. It should be like this:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe -s207.192.196.50:2302
(change path according to your own installation)

If you launch the game from such a shortcut, you won't even need to connect to global server - Discovery server will be visible in LAN.

Alternatively, if you don't wish to change the shortcut, you can go to the Freelancer exe folder and open fldirectip.hta and type the IP in there. But changing the shortcut is better as long as the IP doesn't change.

Angel/Igiss, there's a small error with punctuation. To work correctly, amend the "Target" line to this:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -s207.192.196.50:2302

The Discovery server will then appear in the list, under both LAN and Internet.

For me it works without any quotes at all. Quotes are just to mark start and end of the line. Maybe on your system it's different...

server is down - Korrd - 12-19-2005

Quotes are used to delimit a string.
In old systems (DOS) the names didnt allow spaces. In windows, when you use spaces, you must use quotes. If not, the system will think that the string ends on the first space found.

Is it me or has the server crashed again?

I logged off before the restart and now it's gone, it won't come up on the list, I've been logging on using the Fldirectip, but I've exited the game and tried it again but it's still now coming up.

Give it a few minutes...
If it is not back after 2 3 mins, then it crashed again...
