The reason that I play on an RP server is that I love to RP.
However, it is very hard to roleplay without PvP. When we fly ships with guns, it is in our RP to use them, some of the time. In fact, it is essential to the RP of many characters. Pirates for instance. Pirates rob folk, it's the main part of their RP. They won't be able to without PvP.

PvP is the core of RP here. Without PvP I will have no interest to play here because my RP will become completely useless in such "friendly" environment. I care for PvP and RP. If it's the certain people making the problem - address it to them, force them, one way or another, or make them leave the server by storming reports of RP violations. But coming here and saying "because of those [beep] I'd like PvP turned off" is the worst kind of idea I can imagine. It's the message you are trying to stop, but not the messenger, and that's the problem, not a solution. I don't see this kind of action solving anything, DBoy has summarized just some of the issues arising from it, but there is more. And the result? Pissing off good members of the community.
I'm sorry for being overly harsh here but that's exactly what I think and I feel it's better to express my opinion instead of watching this.

Now I reserve the right to change my opinion if I see this actually works, but the way I see it now doesn't look good at all.
