No. Current NBA and NHL players represent their countries in the Olympics in Hockey and Basketball. Have you never heard of the USA Dream Team?
As a matter of fact, especially in the Hockey event, its very rare to see amateurs at all anymore.

Blunt, you're from Canada? Montreal Canadians, Toronto Mapleleafs, Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames. Any of those ring a bell? Every single player on the Canadian roster for the 2006 Winter Olympics were NHL players.
