Tired of the confusion! - elrica - 04-16-2011 It would be cool if the "sirius news network" on bases could be updated regularly with bulletins such as, "so and so outlawed such and such goods". Right now i would pity any new/newish player. They would need to read for 24 hours plus to try and figure half the stupid laws, and deplomatic crap the "Official" factions are spewing around. At present their is no trading, just smuggling cause no matter what is in your cargo? someone will yell ilegal/smuggler,or imbargo breaker.I don't know what you're talking about. I have a fairly long list of trade routes I use that comply with all local regulations and are perfectly legal, several of which are quite profitable. Speaking from the perspective of Liberty, since that's what I'm most familiar with: Even if a new player has never looked at the laws, the stuff that's illegal is pretty darn obvious. Commodities: Quote:CardamineOf these, all of them with the possible exception of Nomad brains (which aren't an issue for new players) simply scream illegal, many of them just in their name alone (black market, counterfeit, etc). No issues here--moving on. Ships: Quote: Rheinland ships (e.g. Wraith).WHOA YOU CAN'T HAVE CRIMINAL SHIPS OR RHEINLAND SHIPS IN LIBERTY NO WAY. Again, ridiculously obvious. Or how about "can't carry cargo across the border to Rheinland." What, we're at war with Rheinland and you don't want me supplying them with goods? That's crazy talk! With the exception of Kusari, all of the major houses have relatively simple and logical laws for what's allowed and what's isn't. Kusari's rather more complicated, but if you spend a few more minutes figuring it out you're fine. In the time it takes you to finish a single leg of a trade run, you can read up on all of the relevant laws for all the houses your route will be going through. If you want to not break the law, you should at least know the law. Oh, and if you haven't read the laws? Don't try to tell a police officer what's legal or not, because the odds are that you're wrong. I'll be a lot more lenient on people who just say "Sorry, I didn't know" than people who try to argue with me and tell me that their Pirate freighter is legal. Tired of the confusion! - ryoken - 04-16-2011 I play on SWWT now,and will until 4.86 comes out. Why? ALL! contraband has a red X in picture if it is ilegal. All mining goods have a red Pick, and shovel. All factions allow free trade if your transporting legal goods. Guess what? It is way more fun,and so much less complicated. I read all the rules in under 10 minutes, and started playing, and having fun. Here at Discovery? You need to read for an hour or more just to figure out who will kill you next, and why? What "NEW" faction is out to get you. "WHO" has suddenly charged RP to kill,or trade with someone else. Discovery can no longer call itself a Freelance mod. Other then names? it is all changed, and most not for the better. I feel like if you want to jump into a video game and start having fun in a matter of minutes without having to know anything, an RP server that's based on an established foundation is not right for you anyway. There's not much RP about everyone being happy with everyone else and every house having the same rules, is there? Tired of the confusion! - Negatar - 04-16-2011 Ryoken is right on the money with those comments. So to make it better gents - lets make some darn commodities that explain all of this stuff to avoid the confusion. Then we wont need threads like this or the WTF liberty/kusari embargo or more specifics on rheinlandberty embargo/ bretonia/kusari embargo - etc - its just way too much to read and its all not located in a userfriendly area. So lets make a commodity or factions with mini rules - post them/update them in the wiki! You want all of us to take time when one of you gents could post it on wiki and save lots of us time in searching for your hidden threads. Tired of the confusion! - McNeo - 04-16-2011 So, very simply, each lawful house would have: Quote:1 Ship exception licence: That's instantly 20 new commodities, one for each lawful house (Perhaps 25 if you count Gallia). Considering I came up with those off the top of my head, there will be plenty more to come. Kusari in particular may want a Plutonium haulage licence. Sure, not everyone is going to have all the licences, that's not an issue. The issue is the total extra load that will place on the structure of the game, as well as the maintenance that each requires. Not to mention, you haven't considered the admittedly unlikely possibility of a government losing officiality and their laws going into limbo. Maybe I'm old, but I've never used the wiki in my life. Just read the thread. It has everything you need to know, or links to places that do. Tired of the confusion! - Negatar - 04-17-2011 What is the one thread that will spell out all of the particulars for the individual laws or Kusari,Bretonia,Liberty,Rheinland,Order,Blood Dragons,Mollys,Corsairs,Outcasts - I could go on and on - where is that ONE EASY (takes no time to read) post??? Tired of the confusion! - Negatar - 04-17-2011 Designed by the Liberty Rogues, the Pirate Transport is one of the few transport-class vessels available for unlawful population of Sirius(WHERE DOES IT SAY SHIP IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR UNLAWFUL FACTIONS?). This ship is too distincitive to be used for smuggling in areas heavily patrolled by police and military(THIS POST EVEN SAYS ITS DIFFICULT TO SMUGGLE USING THIS SHIP - WHY WOULD I GO AGAINST THE ADVICE HERE? BESIDES I DONT WANT TO SMUGGLE USING THIS SHIP). However, the Transport is great choice for smugglers carrying goods from one pirate base to another using dangerous and lengthy routes. Heavy armor and advanced equipment come in handy if the ship is threatened by hostile pirates and bounty hunters alike. SO DID I INTERPRET THINGS WRONG HIELOR _ YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY SO SMART AND A WIKI EXPERT. NO WHERE DOES IT SAY TO BE USED BY UNLAWFUL FACTIONS ONLY. I bought it because it has a crago capacity of 4300 - THE MAX ALLOWED BY THE JUNKER ID. where on the junker id does it say junkers must be and conduct only unlawful actions. if the pirate transport is so wrong to be using them someone make a ship that has 4300 cargo that doesnt tick off all of the military/police characters! would folks rather i use a bretonian shire as a junker to haul my goods? If so then i will do that - i just want to left alone to do my trade runs LEGALLY!! :rtfm: |
