Mate, now you're just being ignorant. A PvP fight and encounter are the same thing, this has been made clear to you. Stop trying to change the rules to work in your favor and instead look at what has been said and stop being ignorant.

Well, this is going nowhere. I'd appreciate an Admin input.

Question has been answered, no reason for admin input... I wish I was a mod so I could lock this and end this silly debate over a question already been answered.

Just because you think your answer is right doesn't mean it's been answered.
Indeed, no answer to a previously unthought of rules loophole can possibly be definitively answered by any other than an admin.

sterlin might be quite right though...

predicents:

a player has been sanctioned for F1ing from a player vs. player interaction ( not a pvp combat ) - the situation was that aparently his ship lingered in space for the 1 minute - at which the other player had arrived and started interacting with him ( probably making a demand ) - the other player wasn t able to react anymore, cause he had already F1ed.

the admin answer to that rather problematic situation was "do not F1 when there is a possibility that you might be interacted with"

for the sake of determining a player vs. player event - even an attempted dialogue is a pvp event.

and for the sake of the rules - it matters not if you want to switch your battleship for a light fighter.... or your light fighter for a battleship.

when in a player vs. player interaction, docking counts as fleeing. - now fleeing is a term that describes leaving from an interaction on one sided terms ( meaning - the other one does not want you to leave, otherwise it would not be fleeing... but simply leaving )

so if the other player did not want you to leave - you were fleeing, no matter if a shot was fired. however - fleeing does not mean that any rule has been broken in terms of gameplay. - most players wouldn t mind another player to dock and undock - so that ... in case he respawns...he respawns close by.

in any way - unless players are spiteful... docking and undocking while continuing the conversation / interaction shouldn t even make a player THINK of the rules - if you have the rulebook in the back of your mind at that time, something is very wrong with the community... and if the other player has already taken "evidence shots" just in case... something is very wrong indeed, too.

the primary issue is that two players are about to engage in a positive interaction - docking or not. once the interaction suffers from the fear or the wish to sanction someone for something that might not even affect this interaction - there is a hint of "sanctionlancer".

rulewise - the OP is not allowed ( i believe ) - and common sense and social competence ought to tell him when its good/fair to switch ships and or cease or continue the interaction.

but if we played everything and every encounter by the rules - along with all the precidents ever created by the admin team... there wouldn t be much room for a good gameplay anymore.

easiest way out of it:

- ask the other player ooc ( now tahts what ooc is really meant for ) - if he is fine with you undocking again and continue the interaction... or / and if he is fine with you switching ships even.

- the problem about such ooc clearences is that the inRP conversation suffers ... but then again, if both sides are after a good inRP interaction, that is a small price to pay.
