Does RP even matter? - BaconSoda - 09-07-2011 One point I would like to make is that if someone is annoying you, why would you ever compromise yourself by sinking down to his level? That's exactly the game he wants to play. He wants to degrade you. He wants to get under your skin. Screw him. Play the game and have fun. Do not compromise your Roleplay because of someone else. If you compromise your Roleplay because of someone else's attitude, not Roleplay but attitude, then your RP is just as bad as his. Beat him with the systems in place. He can't play more than one character at once. Don't leave you miners more than 10k away. Let him F1 as many alts as he wants. He can only be one person. But the most important thing is to play the game the right way. Don't ever compromise your RP because someone else is a jerk. No one can respect that. Does RP even matter? - Daedric - 09-07-2011 Role play =/= getting what you want. Quit your whining. So why you are asking question then you already know the answer? Does RP even matter? - Silmathien - 09-07-2011 ' Wrote:Im not sure if you have noticed or not, but this server is FAR past the point were people value RP over PVP... I agree. Good roleplay should satisfiy both sides. These days it's more and more one sided gameplay it seems. But hey - it's metagame, not against any rules, nobody cares cause we're superior in numbers and the best thing is: If a new player comes here, the first thing he will imbibe from one's infancy is exactly that. If you want to find others who share your opinion, you might get answers like: Quote: And threads like these never help. This is a communication platform. Share your opinions, find friends you want to roleplay with, not against. Why shouldnt he complain about this? It's not like he wants intentionally ruin the game for others sake? If it comes to indies, you are right; quite a lot of them don't care for RP or nice talk, they care for profit and lulz. Sadly, that's a problem, which can't be solved completely. Does RP even matter? - ryoken - 09-07-2011 To sum up this entire server. Your in a hegemon? your a target for all PvP hoes(matters not full or empty) Your in a train? your a target for all PvP hoes again(full/empty matters not) Your in a starflee, but are level 30 or higher? Still a target for all PvP hoes. So point is. All these guys who will yell there is always a reason to blow you up, are also the same people who whine when traders, and miners hug bases, and battleships. 1 promotes the other. My advice is do what i do. Fly above or below the planes. And when people yell that is ooRP just yell back Space is big,and just because a game "HAS" a plane, real space does not, OR you are RP'n a captain that knows to avoid the area's all the PvP hoes are waiting. To sum it all up. The person who wins will always claim "HIS/HER" RP reason for what they did was right, and your's was lacking. Plain and simple. That is discovery, so need to get a tough skin. Does RP even matter? - Tachyon - 09-07-2011 I got an important point to sum all this up and give one of my final answers to the OP topic title: Yes, RP does matter. Deal with it. Does RP even matter? - Sarawr!? - 09-07-2011 Just because your character pleads a legitimate case to somebody trying to kill him doesn't mean that the attacker has to all of a sudden go: "OH MY GOD YOU'RE RIGHT I'M SO SORRY" Hell I have a few old pirate characters that would normally just laugh at somebody who pleaded their case and then blow them to bits if they didn't pay to live. RP doesn't mean being able to talk yourself out of a situation, though if the other character/player feels merciful, it can certainly happen, but just because it didn't this time doesn't mean RP doesn't matter. Does RP even matter? - elrica - 09-07-2011 If your current RP attempts aren't working, try another approach. When I RP a stubborn, egotistical or angry trader I get pirated insane amounts. When I RP a friendly, scared or stupid trader (or inRP pretend to be), I get pirated, but to a lesser degree. I guess, what I am hinting at is most pirates (within RP) are egotistical and greedy. Try using that to your advantage. As for the pirates who aren't egotistical and greedy, reward them and hope they remember your name. I made a lot of oorp friends that way...it's weird. Remember, just because somebody pirates you does not make them a bad player. Silent-traders and the "lol just kill me" traders are as much of a problem as lolpirates. If you do this, I'd expect most people would go out of their way to pirate you in the future. But then again, sometimes you just need to laugh in their face and try to blast them. Failing that, try bringing bigger guns. Space is dangerous. Why would you trade alone? |
