I do like these ideas for events. A bit of a shame I probably won't be getting in on this one due to the ships I have. But it does bring a new aspect into the game.

Rather than it just being a case of get a ship, pick a faction and go do your own thing. Something I seem to struggle to do due to how seriously I seem to take my ingame relations. Factions get objectives.

Hopefully this could be more than something that happens every so often.

That fleet found it considerably harder to kill npcs after we turned up

I stopped reading there.
Because in my book, goal of the events is not to win, but to have a more organized player interactions on the server compare to the everyday BAF-KNF gankfests one can get in Leeds.

However, that's just my personal opinion about an event I wont be taking part in. So I felt like tossing my opinion in, but now I don't see the need for arguing over it. Many people know I've never been a big fan of NPCs in general, so it's obvious that I won't be supporting an NPC-based event, but I do understand some people think "Oh NPCs add to the feeling of this game (rain)" and all that jazz, so why not? Let them have fun with shootin down waves after waves of retarded bots hour after hour. Why not?

However, what made this whole event 'lame' in my opinion was that the results are predetermined, there's no flexibility in it. Admins want a total of 7500 NPCs killed in 1 week. That's simply 100 NPCs a day if only 10 members of BAF| official faction decide to do it... Which is nothing hard. (For the record, each house military guard repped ship kills an average of 250 - 300 NPCs to get the rep, so 100 is not a really high number). So it's basically fightin over nothing, and I personally wouldn't have logged my KNF if I had any, and instead I would've went like "Meh, BAF| cried long and hard enough that admins got tired and now want to give them that off-the-map station back? Let em have it. Less tears for the crybabies, less cries to get on admins nerves."

Edit:
' Wrote:While this might be a simple NPC slaughtering exercise, the point is that Cannon is using Flhook to track game variables to accomplish some pretty amazing event dynamics. Something that adds a level to the game, and improves it. This is an experiment in that sort of thing. Knowing Cannon, even wilder stuff will follow.
In that case, it's always better to mention stuff like this. There might be more people like me around the community who'd consider this event a waste of time without knowing this. But knowing this, even those people might make a char on either side of the conflict to help Cannon with this "experiment" he's running. One problem of Disco dev team is that they like to be oh-so-secret for some reason and never tell anyone about any of the good things they do, so all people see is the negative sides (But that's another story for another thread anyways).

I am also not very enthusiast in encouraging NPC farming and the rest. But this is probably an experiment as it is already mentioned, so I guess it is important for people to actively participate.

I think it is very good idea. It encourages interaction - for kusari to get on and stop BAF from killing thier NPCs - whereas having to kill kusari players - cos then they could just not log on, and auto-win - would reduce it.

It is also good because it gives players something fun to do even when there arnt other players around.

And of course dynamic storylines are awesome.

Will the Guard ID count? What about the BIS and BPA IDs?

BAF Attacks! KNF Defends! - Curios - 09-12-2011

I like the idea, but please for teh sake of god, restrict this to the regular IDs only so no cruiser\bs can take a part.

Any ways Liberty wont appear in thins one because this is of only BAF and KNF.

The only issue I can think of in terms of implimenting this idea is that the NPC count goes down massively when the servers busy.
