Buicks don't look like Chevrolets.
Unlike the normal IMG line, the Raven's Talon is made by the IMG for public use. It's a different "line" of ships.
Alternately: The IMG line is ugly enough, we don't need more of them around.

PS: The new IMG ship is beyond awesomesauce. Despite it being somewhat non-miner looking, it is still bloody awesome.

Anyways, this model would be a Colonial rather than an IMG fighter, but seeing it looks so well I wouldn't care, if it will replace the current IMG VHF.

You forgot the purpose of a fighter ship, right? It's design gives it higher survival rate on the battlefield. Even for a mining faction, it doesn't make sense to make fighters which should scream something minerish in order to make them suitable for a miner faction.
IMG is an entity which according to lore has a highly developed R&D, a rather large paramilitary (see BCs) and lots of experience because of the constant fights with the Outcasts in the Upper Taus. So there is no reason why IMG cannot have such a ship.
