Maybe we should give it a thruster, then? Make it unique? With a low thruster speed, probably.

Update on the Outcast Dreadnought replacement.

You may now stroke my massive E-Peen, and yes, pun intended. Responses will be slow, the cable got cut and I'm posting this on the front porch; it's five degrees Celsius and raining. Note that this is still not near complete, I have to detail the bow segment, the rear segment, and clean it up best I can (I've managed to keep it just about perfect so far, thank god...).

EDIT: Oh, and if it looks like it has little bits sticking out of it, they're an illusion. 3ds Max does that at a distance, don't know why...must be my crappy graphics card.

I think that the bridge section should be raised a bit more, but other than that, very nice.

Eppy's Current Projects - Eppy - 05-12-2008

Honestly, I agree with you, I was trying to figure out how to do it without making it look too skinny from the front and just set it aside to go work on the docking apertures. I'll try again tonight.

Eppy's Current Projects - Dopamino - 05-12-2008

Looks good to me except for the "Aztec temple" bridge. I would make it more angular and flat there instead of the staircase look.

Eppy's Current Projects - AdamantineFist - 05-12-2008

Nothing wrong with the staircase look in my opinion. Gives it flavour.

Ah...man...the Phantom BS will be amazing. Also the post about Xoria wanting to shoot the designer of the current Spyglass cracked me up....The new model of it looks realy realy good.

But about the new look of the Outcast Destoyer... is that needed ? The "Homeworld" Battleship look is very nice , clean and slick in my opinion and the fact that that Destroyer is the most popular choice in the server for that kind of ship , says that community likes it.

Eppy's Current Projects - Robert.Fitzgerald - 05-12-2008

The Destroyer is popular for its cheap price, high firepower and small profile. Probably has nothing to do with looks at all, sadly.

The Outcast Destroyer should be replaced with a freelancer-esqe model, so it fits into the mod better.

Discovery 4.85: Freelancer-esqe ships...Ah, my dreams!

outcast dreadnaught revised model:

it does look excellent now - except for a few little things. ( but that is mainly due to the fact that its a) blue and b) .... well.... blue [such a term only makes sense when you list at least 2 things] )

wel, in front of the bridge there is a shield ( some blue spike ) - that might be too big ( or as it has been suggested, the bridge section could be raised ) - i think the "spikyness" of that shielding will not be there anymore, once its textured - but atm, it looks rather low detailed compared to the bridge. ( that is, the bridge uses more angles to describe a bow - while the rough armour is a very spiky edge ) - i know that vanilla ships are not very smooth, but they still often use more sections to imitate a curve. - maybe give it one more side - like half a hexagon, instead of just a tetra-eder.

then there is the problem with the size. - from what i see, the bridge section would be like 6 levels high and is around 40% of the full ships hight. - that means that the whole ship would be like 16 levels high. - thats a lot... .

the kusari battleship is ... i believe 12 levels high - and appears to be quite tall. - so if those levels are scaled to compare with the kusari BB, this ship will be huge - especially very long. ( think of something around the hight of a kusari BB, but 2.5 times longer )

in the end, it can be scaled down a little - of course, one cannot compare the ships to each other - or a patriot would be huge compared to a battleship, too.

other than these points, the ship is perfect. - richly enough detailed and well in line with the battleship while being satifactory massive as it should be.

edit: i don t like the tip/front much. - it looks like there must be something to be coming out of the nose. - sensors? a gun? a searchlight? - not sure, antennas might be the best choice - but that what i do on my ships... its not something that fits really to yours. - but it looks like there is something missing, or he gap in the very front makes no sense. ( or fit something like a combat bridge there - something to fill the hole. - it looks like the barrel of a gun that isn t a gun at all )

i reckon the back needs work still it looks way to blocky, it reminds me of the hose i attach to my tumble dryer.

in my opinion you should loose

the whole section that attached the engine to the main body or get rid of the 2 block things that is circled, or maybe just one.... i just cant get the image of that hose out of my head cause of that bit, rest is nice though much better than its beta version which made me want to KEEP the zeppelin.
