Alaska Opinion Poll - Praetyre - 05-07-2008 ' Wrote:1 ) LSF/SA only Sorry to go a bit off topic, but why would the Southern Navy have any reason to enter Alaska? It's not in their jurisdiction. Alaska Opinion Poll - pchwang - 05-07-2008 Technically, it's in the Northern Compact's jurisdiction. But if we equate Zone 21 to Area 51, you will find that the majority running the complex are not members of the NSA, CIA, or the DoD, but high ranking military officials of the US Army. The same thing goes for Zone 21. While SA might have precedence over the LSF regarding certain order passing outside Alaska and Z21, the LSF definitely has power over the SA in aforementioned areas. But the LSF is supposed to be an equivalent of a national security organization. To expect such an organization to expend such energy and manpower into the defense and patrol of an entire system is not only illogical, but logistically impossible. LSF would be training, employing, and equipping far more people than it was designed to do. Thus, it needs Navy support. Alaska Opinion Poll - Praetyre - 05-07-2008 Well, the US Military isn't split into North and South. If the Liberty Security Force needed Navy support, they'd go with the Northern Navy, who have jurisdiction over the area, whereas the Southern Navy's mandate is to patrol Texas and California. Alaska Opinion Poll - Xing - 05-07-2008 and, probably a reason why there are people trying to mount up a solid northern fleet, but I'm very much afraid it wont work. worth the shot, though. I prefer a more centralised force such as the RM, than a concentration of indie, to be honest. Alaska Opinion Poll - timmychen - 05-07-2008 Or, we could just rename SA to LN.. really, what's the need for a divided fleet? I think you've touched upon this subject before, Praetyre.. Alaska Opinion Poll - Fletcher - 05-07-2008 Well over the past day or so since I've had an Order character, I've been chipping at the Liberty defenses left and right with hit and miss results. Sometimes there is no defenses at all, and New York is full of smugglers and underpowered LPI players. While at other times I have seen Battlecruisers guard the gate with Avenger escorts. Its all about timing, and luck. Since my Order player is trying to save humanity, he often provokes the Liberty Navy to actually guard rather than have a nap. We have to stop those Nomads after all. Edison.Trent will never let those Liberty pilots rest. Oh and if I see smugglers in Alaska I will NOT let you through, The Order systems are RESTRICTED.:rtfm: Alaska Opinion Poll - Praetyre - 05-07-2008 ' Wrote:Or, we could just rename SA to LN.. really, what's the need for a divided fleet? I think you've touched upon this subject before, Praetyre.. You'd need to have a big roleplay shift there, plus the resources to deal with rogue Northern LN's who refuse to integrate. Alaska Opinion Poll - Heartless - 05-07-2008 So I think it can be globally agreed upon that Z21=A51. In that case, get rid of the Bounty Hunters. Does the US government hire mercenaries to protect Area 51 or fort knox? I don't think so. Also, the SA is a Navy, meaning they go to places and fight wars. The LSF I think should be in charge of Alasks, because it is a Liberty system and they are securing it, the Police just patrols all of Liberty, and like I said, the SA go to places and hunt down enemy fleets, meaning right now there is no real purpose for the SA. And I'm going to agree with permission to enter, including new Bs| characters, they can't do any harm so it's fine. I still want the Liberty Navy to not be seen in Minor, that's like having the Order in New York... Alaska Opinion Poll - Praetyre - 05-07-2008 Actually, there are the camo dudes, private security contractors hired to guard the perimeter of the base, but not inside it. I once tried an RP as a Sirius equivalent of those, and it was quite fun. So, I can see secret, unaffiliated mercenaries (BHG are too public) outside the entrance, but not in Z21 itself.
