I have yet to see this. Whenever I've done a snubfighter run on Cali through to NY, we have always got gun downed by 5 or 6 LN VHFs.

I've seen a dreadnought, a carrier, a siege cruiser and a battlecruiser all go down in what are possibly best described as 'fleet actions'. I've seen groups of pirates bring down bunches of Navy people, though I have never seen a pirate capital ship larger than a gunboat in action.

Actually, now I give it more thought, I don't recall seeing an 'LR' tagged person in a gunboat before. I've run away from a few swarms of missiles from indie pirates, though.

And you likely never will see an LR- tagged official faction member gunboat. There's a reason we don't fly those, a very good reason.

Del has a cap 8 gunboats, the Gunboat Diplomat. Used as his personal ship, as I understand.
I myself will be keeping a gunboat active for shotgun diplomacy, with the current rise of suspicious groups as the Legact, GST, Cartel and others.
