Yeah but it doesnt make sense that anyone can access that data about where you are, does it?

To be fair, this has been suggested many times now. Basically, replacing the system name with our already known glitch of the player's system showing up as ??????

I would be all for it, except for one fatal flaw in it. Such a system, especially during mornings, would limit player interaction. It would be like flying around, trying to find a needle in a hay stack.

I would agree with this with a little modification. Players should know about other ships in the same system, so if I am in Tau-29, I should have the list of players there.

I doubt that would happen, because its hard to see a big battle because you need to explore a system in every region they are on. But lawful Police players can benefit due to TLAGSNET, which is unfair.

And I still hope some day we will see player numbers increasing ....yes that's a nice dream ;/

You don't need to explore whole sys to find what your looking for ,you just simply ask some one about the info ,it increases the RP quality and it's more interesting and "realistic" ....anyway metagaming is lame and it ruins the real RP!
If you have the crew then you have some kind of communication with them via group chat in game ,vent ,TS or Skype and you will know where are they and what are they doing ,and If you play solo and just wana "hunt" interaction with other players you can just ask about the info u seek iRP from other players "you met in space" or in System Communication Channel (System Chat) or via Private Comm Channel ( PM) and there it is ....

Like I said this will increase the RP quality because it will make people communicate more often with each other iRP ...

Yes mby there is a lot of reasons that can "dig a grave" for this idea and I wish to see all of them presented here, as many as you can, so we can see this from every possible aspect and make this work if possible coz the idea has ben presented many times and it's cool Wink

There's no phone company, everybody sends their own messages, you register with the FTL and everybody knows.

The alternative would be to /unregister and then nobody could see you, but you couldn't receive anything except console messages

what do we do with noobs? iguess just do it for Specific system. for example...NY+Cali+Colorado+Texas = liberty.

but keep hudson/kepler/penny/ etc out of this.

how about independent systems, border systems, edge sector, tau sector, omicron sector. Pirate house systems in houses write as Liberty space, Rheinland space, Bretonia space and etc. For example Saar, Düsseldorf and others will show as Rheinland. Omega 54 will be in Omega sector.

Voting no. Everything was covered so far... I preffer to look up for interaction or be "metagamed" myself - nothing bad about it.

Yes.

Although having the regions a bit more specific would be better. For example saying "Omicrons" is a gigantic area. Could be fixed by specifying who controls it (or has the most influence). Example: Outcast Omicrons, omicron alpha, beta, 85, etc. Or..something like that.
