Thank you everyone - Exsiled_one - 06-07-2008 I think it could be equally enforceable as the ID, it does make the game more tiresome tho.. Thank you everyone - Jihadjoe - 06-07-2008 ' Wrote:I can't tell if you been sarcastic.... *Coughs* Moi, sarcastic... NEVAH!... But seriously I think people need to think about supply more often. I mean capships especialy should be carrying crew, food and water, fuel, Light arms... The list could go on for a very long time I don't think that we need to be totally accurate with it, but that people shoud make at least some effort, to carry stuff like that for the sake of realism. Thank you everyone - Exsiled_one - 06-07-2008 yeah well, light arms and crew.. Could I also board your ship then and take it?:) Thank you everyone - MrCynical - 06-07-2008 Requiring people to carry a specific amount of H-Fuel in capital ships is a good idea (although I think it's a bit too micro-management to be an actual rule) - in fact my capital ship (singular, faction authorised), a gunboat, carries 12 units of H-Fuel at all times. However making it compulsory and perishable is a bad idea - have you seen how fast perishable commodities degenerate? It would leave capital ships unable to participate in prolonged fights away from the few depots which sell H-Fuel at realistic prices. Things like the possible Rheinland - Liberty confrontation would become impossible, because the fleets wouldn't be able to get far enough away from an H-Fuel depot to actually meet each other and fight. Far from improving RP, having compulsory perishable H-Fuel would kill off what little capital ship RP there is. While we're on the subject of capital ship RP, maybe with the proposal to stop NPCs scanning for contraband in 4.85 (the escorts thing), it could be made possible to buy 'Spaceship Crew', 'Spaceship Captain' and so on? These would be sold and bought at one price throughout Sirius (to prevent them from being used for trading) and we could specify a minimum crew for each ship type. Far from improving RP, having compulsory perishable H-Fuel would kill off what little capital ship RP there is. The perishable items would be much slower than Lux food or Mox plus the different grades would crater to different ship classes. Just me the math will be done to ensure that the half-life of H-fuel will be appropriate for RP events in freelancer. Military Operations must consider there supply line doesn't seem to me to hinder any RP event if the battle goes on for 3 hours some would expect the energy consumption to decrease a little. It would take more strategy then randomly deciding in 4min to attack another system. Thank you everyone - Linkus - 06-07-2008 No no no no no no no no...no? On a mod I was involved in the majority chose to try enforce maintainance. Essentially large capital ships for civilians cost money to keep each week and it was automatically deducted from the characters credit account. Not only did it not work correctly but it also drove people to stop playing. They did not want to be FORCED to trade. Honestly, when you start forcing people to do stuff like this simply to play the game then you create a hostile environment and lots of people tend to give up. The game would become more about work than actual enjoyment. Capital ships carrying crew is not such a bad idea however as it only needs replenishing if you die or do an RP event etc. In my ships I carry some H-Fuel and crew just to simulate actual usage. Also have some toxic waste in one character though that's because it's leaking and making them slightly insane. (All shall fear the Battleship Trinity!!!) Hard to enforce on other servers but with the high amount of people online on this server that wouldn't really be an issue, especially since people tend to come down upon those breaking even the smallest rule. Thank you everyone - RmJ - 06-07-2008 I wasn't really intending it to programed the money to be deducted automatically. And it wouldn't be interlocked with you credits. The may alter the speeds of your ship when it is gone but nothing else. I too have thought about the players and how they would get frustrated and leave but the others servers are not this server. This server has a strong community that works together to improve Disco. Seeing that people leave anyway not because of the rules it's because the people who were not following the rules. If they want to leave fine gives more space for those who are really serous about RP FL. Just because they have to take 6seconds every 2 weeks to replenish fuel that causes them to lose sight of there Game play then we should make Bat/Nanos and infinite supply on our ships. Thank you everyone - Pora - 06-07-2008 Couldn't we also have Fuel that cost high but last for insanely long time? I am a trader and i don't really mind having this cuz i too boring just flying from one place to the other. Pirates? i haven't ever been stopped or anything. So doing this could add to the excitement. Pus people could make a lot money out of this. I for one would jump on a chance to make more money. Thank you everyone - Pora - 06-07-2008 Yea i like really a lot what do we have to do to make it work? |
