My budget gaming stuff is 5 years old and work flawlessly:
OCZ Elixir KB and OCZ Equalizer mouse- it is re-branded cheap chinese stuff but it does its job. The mouse is G400 from the same chinese retailer but in your case Logitech branded.
MS KB does not have long operational life- it would be totalled in less then 2 years time.
I guess that even a bit more expensive the Razer stuff is the better stuff and if you want to safe money in Germany Roccat are cheap and good. I got friends with 6-10 years Razer stuff that just work perfectly- so when something dies from my stuff I am going for Razer for good.

I've had a G500 for awhile now, no complaints at all. Lasting much longer then my old ones and with more features.

Indeed they last a lot, mine thing is 5 years old and still no problems- it is good advantage but their laser is not precise enough if you are some kind of competition I win guy. About the longlivety my point was about MS game KB- this things are made to die fast- even if you make 1 year it would be great.

I've had the G500 for years, doesn't feel cheap at all and it's still looking brand new after nearly 5 years.
However, there is a new model out.

My friend has the G500s and it feels a little bit better than the G500.
