With this particular printed gun? Sure - not an argument there whatsoever. Or, unless in time of actual physical armed conflict? Again, not an argument there, either. Road deaths kill more people than ALL types of homicide - guns, knives, baseball bats, pressure cookers, etc... U.S. in 2011 - 32,367 road deaths, 310 million population, 4 million miles of roads GB in 2011 - 1,901 road deaths, 62 million population, about 250,000 miles of roads RE: Working gun made with 3D printer - Username removed - 05-18-2013 I believe that in a armed society, the bad people will think twice before committing crimes because they would be like: "That guy most likely has a gun, if he catches me robbing his house he'll most surely shoot me." While in an unarmed society the same bad guys will be like "What's he gonna do? Call the cops? I'll stab him and be gone before anyone gets there." Actually, it'll more likely be "That guy most likely has a gun, if he catches me robbing his house I better shoot him before he shoots me". Statistically, gun owners are far more likely to be shot themselves. That having been said, I'm not the sort of person who believes higher rates of gun ownership automatically mean more violent crime. It has far more to do with social factors and attitudes. As for the subject: I think that's pretty darn cool. A showcase of modern technology. I don't see it as a grave danger. Nobody with criminal intent is going to buy a 3d printer that costs thousands of dollars to build a crappy one-shot pistol. If they have that kind of money, they'll be able to aquire "real" guns. It costs around 15 € and exists since 2000 or even earlier. I guess the cultural differences matter here, growing up in the post-communistic apocalypse in bad neighbourhood gives to the people traits and experiences. RE: Working gun made with 3D printer - Blackvertigo1 - 05-23-2013 There is a zero gravity 3D printer, it's called a MatCen.
