Corsair - Zoner - Dane Summers - 02-08-2012 I forgot this too... ![]() Corsair - Zoner - DAnvilFan - 02-08-2012 ' Wrote:If we want to look at the infocards and rumours and lore, how about that Zoner bartender who's completely scared for his life after simply telling a freelancer the general direction of the Gamma hole? Congratulations. You found an infocard. How about Dennis Porter, who loves knocking out teeth in brawl fights? Or how about Perry Crawford, the former member of the BAF who became the defense commander on Freeport 10? Or the fact that Freeport 10 continuously fought against Outcasts and did not surrender? Or how about Freeport 2 kicking out all Unioners out of the station? In any case, what does this has to do with the subject of unification vs. total seperation? ' Wrote:The Zoners have failed to roleplay their unity for a very very long time, and so we are here, having developed past that. They haven't failed at roleplaying unity. They failed at roleplaying. And the reason for that is because this "developed past unity" bit you're talking about was fueled by players getting pissed off at each other. Shall we encourage canonizing Roleplay based on players getting into a pissing contest? Think about the example this sets for everyone. ' Wrote:I fail to see how TAZ recognizing Theta screws over neutrality any more than FP1 recognizing O-3 as Bretonian territory, or Ames recognizing Kepler as shared between Liberty and Kusari. My pleasure. To be neutral is to be indifferent. Recognizing a nation's sovereignty over a borderworld system isn't neutral. It's called picking sides. Those examples you've mentioned also fly in the face of neutrality. Just because you haven't seen a ruckus, doesn't mean that it won't happen in the future and it definitely doesn't mean that somebody is neutral merely because no ruckus is happening. Corsair - Zoner - DAnvilFan - 02-08-2012 ' Wrote:The gist of the matter being: assuming the Zoners were reunited again, how would it fix the current issue? The Corsairs are basically demanding that the Zoners FR5 factions hostile to them. That's not an issue! That's a roleplay set up. If Discovery had an RP manual you could buy at WalMart, you'd open it up to the "Zoners" section and you would see the following: "The entire galaxy hates Zoners because they let enemies hang out at Freeport bars. Corsairs hate Zoners because they let Bounty Hunters base out of Freeport 9 and want that station destroyed. Meanwhile, Liberty has signed a new law in which 'any Zoners who sell goods or services to any criminal group have broken Liberty law and therefore are criminals themselves.' Everybody wants Zoners dead. Good luck." That's why you play the Zoners - because of that very challange. Why is everybody and their mother claiming this as a game development design issue? Unbalaned ships is an issue. Too many systems is an issue. Zoners being hated by everyone is not an issue. That's their roleplay! Hot damn. 'CRETE - News Report' Wrote:Many Corsairs believe that it is no longer necessary to tolerate the Zoner presence in Omicron Gamma's sister system. There is concern that they allow Bounty Hunters to come too close to the home world. It has also been argued that the biodomes in Freeport 9 could be salvaged after the Zoner expulsion and used to grow food solely for Corsairs. Right now the Zoners enjoy relative safety in Omicron Theta, but that could soon change. 'BERING - News Report' Wrote:Liberty has long accused Zoners of what it called "aiding and abetting felonious criminal elements." In the new law signed yesterday by the President, any Zoners who sell goods or services to any criminal group have broken Liberty law and therefore are criminals themselves. Though Liberty said it would not pursue anyone in the Border Worlds for this new crime, criminals will be arrested if they enter Liberty space. A Zoner spokesman replied, "It's that type of foolishness that drove us away from that police state called Liberty." Corsair - Zoner - Blodo - 02-08-2012 Well I agree with you completely about this being a setup for good RP. Now how do you propose we explain this to the rest in a way that will finally stick?:DBecause just like Dublin ore rush was a good setup and Freistadt unlawful ambiguity was a good setup, so is this. But I have little faith that this won't be pushed to be acted upon in some other way than by just RP. Now how do you propose we explain this to the rest in a way that will finally stick?:D Administrators need to step into threads like this and slam down verdicts on which issues are legitimate RP issues and which are redundant statements about what the Discovery RPG Manual already tells you, and therefore aren't issues at all. It would take all 2 seconds and perhaps people would finally get the message after a while and stop these threads entirely. It would be like if I'm playing D&D and then suddenly make a thread complaining about Elves having pointy ears. The all knowing and wise admins prefer to hover from above, watching us mere mortals fight amongst ourselves in the manner of the greek gods of yore. Corsair - Zoner - DAnvilFan - 02-08-2012 :-] Corsair - Zoner - Linkus - 02-08-2012 Theta: Zoners -> Corsairs Zoners -> Deal with it. That the basic line of thought here? Corsair - Zoner - DAnvilFan - 02-08-2012 I suppose, except instead of using the words "deal with it," I would encourage the words, "embrace it." And instead of "Zoners -> Embrace it," I would replace Zoners with "Everyone." Corsair - Zoner - Linkus - 02-08-2012 Sounds grand to me. So. Gran Canaria. It's a lovely planet. The Corsairs are building up a fleet in the system. Try that for logic. |
