Allow me to attempt on restoring it, will you?

Just because something approaches it's expiration date that doesn't mean you cannot properly enjoy it until then.

Even if disco approaches its death... let's make the most of it until then

Hahaha, hearing all this is not even funny anymore. I cant even believe that so many people dont see it. Objective reasons for activity fall, that is. Seeing new map, I dont even know if someone is trying to fix anything at all. I'm not blaming anyone, devs/admins ARE doing much more for the mod than anyone else. Looking back, however and seeing how few good things hves been done in those many past years is quite depressing. Usually it's comunity that withers first, but it's the other way around here. Again, i'm not blaming anyone, it's natual order of things, just as comunities die out, so do administrators.

Sometimes during more pesimistic mood I actually want discovery to die out, so something new can emerge. Not saying that saving disco is imposible, but it would take something like the return of Igiss (read: miracle). In current state: not a chance.

EDIT: To all those "one person cant make a difference": not that situation, one person is EXACTLY what is lacking here.

RE: Online activity - Swallow - 07-18-2013

One person... Uh... Then less talks and more deeds. Yet Firefly to modelup and some decent RP to play and writedown.

We are all twentysomethings here, so as the years get by and we move from collage to paid jobs, then we do not have as much time to play FL anymore. That and RP just seems more and more silly to many of us, or just how the people here view it just a tad too seriously for the game to stop being a game and become a second job or a cause for drama.

I'm sixteen. The youngest (good) Rp'er I know on this mod is twelve. Sindroms, younger members join all the time.

I would rather say that younger members are a minority. Most people are twentysomething or even more. (Rectify if I'm wrong)

And I doubt they join ALL the time but there are those people. Like I am if anybody's happened to stalk my profile >_>

And a person who is twelve, and has good RP? Now that is something I would like to see. Not saying it's impossible of course.

But real life starts knocking soon when you've passed college and so on. It's just a plain hard fact. Activity will drop somewhat, but to the point of none?
That we have yet to see.
I only hope that It will not for the next few years atleast. It would be a shame seeing this game die.

RE: Online activity - lIceColon - 07-19-2013

When ibsaid new playwrs start in conn, not neccesaroly conn but in an oorp enviornment, eg split up a newb area in conn using em fancy minefields, or just another oorp system all together.

Also young membera are minoroty because unlike me, kids tpday are tptal buttholes. Introspectovely prpbanbly the raiskns i have no firends.

RE: Online activity - Di'taraAlpha - 07-19-2013

It is true as people get older and Rl becomes progressively more pressing people will leave this mod. I believe there is an advertisement discussion thread which may provide a possible cure?

RE: Online activity - Tunicle - 07-19-2013

It is also true that as people get older and rl presses then the older people who play have carefully embedded the gametime into the rl time they have.

It is also problematic for these dedicated players when bored youngsters or people having to leave due to rl decide the best way forward is to defecate in the pool as they leave.

Basic Biology, r and K approaches, at present the r strategy is a problem for the server.

RE: Online activity - Govedo13 - 07-21-2013

I find also really sad that there are so many talented artists in this community and there is no single proper Youtube teaser video showing all great 4.86 functions.
Such 3-4 min gameplay video posted in Youtube and in Chris Roberts forums could sky-rocket the activity of the server since huge amount of people are in hype according to the Space Sim games.
May be one can try to show the 4.86 properly?
I see the video parts like this:

1. General introduction to the mod and map and story in 1 min.
2. Fighter PvP, capital ship PvP Groups PvP, TS/Zoom 1-2 min
3. Bases and all base produced stuff presentation- 2 min.
Make it with good music- there are a lot of epic video parts laying around in Youtube ask the people to use them.

RE: Online activity - Zen_Mechanics - 07-21-2013

I'm working on the video and be making it today. Also, disco ain't going anywhere as long as we are here, the people that bring up these questions and are motivated to solve them

RE: Online activity - Govedo13 - 07-21-2013

Sorry but with 70 players on-line now I just does not want to log in order to grow beard till I interact with someone. Disco is not well also it is strange because right now the whole world of games is in Space games hype since Roberts presented SC.
In general it should be quite the opposite but there is 0 effort in doing any marketing.
Note that the CR forum is so full with people so intense that if you post something now till the end of the day the topic would have at least 20 pages and it would be 5-6 pages behind the main page. Their forum is the fullest forum that I have ever seen and we does not use proper this hype.
