I second this.
It would take care of another common "dick"-move in pvp.

What's the positives of having NPCs around anyway? They do more harm than good.

In the time it takes to perform a thorough "Cargo Scan", something that Lawful and Unlawful players both do as a part of roleplaying, an NPC patrol consisting of 3-4 Junker CSFs was able to nearly kill a fully kitted Liberty Navy ID/IFF'd Guardian, in front of Manhattan.

Boy that toooooootally seems like something that should happen in a game dependent on players interacting with one another.

video provided by another player, but I was there and saw what happened for myself.

Don't get me wrong, I like having NPCs around for immersion purposes, and because they make things feel more 'alive', but THIS, should not be happening.

I think the big problem is that hostile NPC usually appears when we have player interaction.

I don't care if NPC atack me when Im alone.
I acctualy like them if they are strong, but not when I have real player opponent in my range.

Well they do allow people to see that there aren't just 50 people living in the sector at one time...

That's one. A negative point is that those 50 people can be annoyed by NPCs getting in the way of roleplay.

All that needs to happen is a nerf of NPC weapons, things would be fine, then.

The funny thing is that that video isn't even close to how ridiculous NPCs can be.

I will tell you all a great story now.

Once upon a time, little Otousan the Iseijin pilot went to Tau-23:

As you can see, he was greeted by many Gallic friends of his. Five servals and two Gunboats.

Now, Otousan was good at flying circles, so he was alright.

Then, a GRN| pilot appeared, who little Otousan tried to convince he wasn't an infectee at all! It went alright, until little Otousan parked his ship on a rock.

If not for his quick reflexes - dodging the gunboat missiles just in time - his automated Gallic friends would have killed him in as little as a second!

This made him very unhappy.

The worst part is, however, that more Gallic friends that weren't automated (GRN|) appeared, but they wouldn't believe Otousan anymore because he was in all-out combat with their automated friends!

So Otousan left. When he saw that some IMG NPCs appeared as well just as he left, he knew he was lucky those didn't start shooting him as well, or it certainly would have ended badly!

Little Otousan could tell you many more stories about gates almost killing him before he even regained control over his ship, or planets nearly blowing him up every time he passed them, but he will save them for another day.

Ok maybe there are to many NPCs...but they are not to hard.
I play as a pirate pretty much all of the time, I do not think NPCs need to be nerfed....at all.
Taking away there guns would put it back to the normal Freelancer, remember when you could sit by a battle shrimp in your Corsair VHF and take no damage? Do you REALLY want something like that?
I hear people complain about jump gate guns, then I watch as they try NO dodging at all.
If you just simply kill NPCs they wont be so much of a pest, and if you don't try flying by a base like West Point (I have seen many pirates try that...after getting taken out by a BC around the base they whine) then you wont see any BS NPCs. Just stay a good way away to RP.
Maybe cut down a little bit on the fighters that spawn in the middle of no where (now why would a police ship patrol 60k under Southampton?)

You sound like you've never played a pirate, or at least, play as a pirate 100K below the plane.
